Joe Low knock back number two will not deter the Swans

A second bid before this weekend’s dismal FA Cup game away at Southampton has been turned down by Wycombe. That bid was for centre back, Joe Low. It was common news a second bid was coming but now it seems a third will be needed.

Having said that Andrew Coleman is in dialogue with Dan Rice at Wycombe Wanderers this week in some form of attempt to get a conclusion to this. If you review our latest report on that you can read about the clubs intentions this week.

That’s below.

⚽️ Behind the Wycombe link

That leads on to what we now know. The initial offer for Low was in and around £300,000 plus incentives. The second bid we are told was around £625,000 with similar add ons. These two bids are far lower than Wycombe now want. It isn’t news that a bid of around £800,000 plus would be more acceptable, but we still think they are holding out for a million. The issue Wycombe have is Joe is available on a free come the end of May or July (allegedly) We say that as Joe’s contract information is protected, and Wycombe will surely have an option on him come the summer ? Again though, Wycombe will not go to the salary heights the Swans can. Even though the club have very restricting contract leverage it will be far higher than the Chairboys. Not a dissimilar situation to Harry Darling (bar the option) at the Swans. It’s very difficult to clear these things up so maybe Andrew Coleman isn’t just facing the clear and obvious details ? Something isn’t right there.

However, that’s today. Even if there is some form of disguised information in Joe’s contract it really shouldn’t change the overall detail that much.

⚽️ Based on what we know.
As time moves on in this transfer window Wycombe will become more vulnerable due to the defender not being able to be transferred until the end of the season. Then they will almost certainly lose him with no fee at all. Again, we have no doubt that Joe’s agent has been speaking to whoever they can, informally and of course getting the basics of what the Swans can pay indirectly. We all know how this works. We do know that Low wants to come to the Swans as a preference and that the Swans clearly want him. Of course Wycombe know that as well and are digging their heels in with plenty of time before deadline day.

⚽️ What else is holding this all up ?
As far as we know this isn’t a transfer fee paid all at once. Most transfers do have a contingency to stagger the payments. This we think is the main reason for the hold up. The particulars certainly will be for the Swans to stagger the payments to make P&S easier to conform to. We did some research into that below.

⚽️ How P&S affects every club

For every transfer the Swans want to make this month there will have to be instalment offers that are acceptable to both clubs. Yes, the club has access now to a far bigger fund since the new investment, but only the Swans know what flexibility they have to work within the guidelines this month. Talks will continue this week as they have thus far in this window. We are uncertain if Low is a priority to get in before the derby. There is some hope Harry Darling will be available despite Luke Williams recent comments, baffling to an extent but expected.

The swans are determined to get this done, even if that rolls on to the summer.

So, we start another week with disappointment behind us but as ever we have to get into positive mode. Losing the derby could bring about some changes, but no Jack wants to exchange a derby loss to see Luke Williams leave ? it’s been a very poor three weeks for Luke Williams. Yes, let’s be positive. And to an extent pray just a little to whichever god turns you on.
