The Luka deal explained : The reasoning was simple. Majority owners did the work.

Luka Modrić has been confirmed as a new investor at Swansea City this morning, as we stated earlier we knew something was afoot, but really would never have guessed this move. And we have some exclusive details.

What we can now reveal is Luka has been in discussions with the Swans since last year. The main thrust coming from majority owners Brett Cravatt and Jason Cohen who we are told are so focussed on the club and its commercial success they are unfaltering. Luka is a minority shareholder in Swansea City but you can be rest assured his focus will be all over the club. There were even staff at certain levels at the Swans who didn’t know of this move.

Until now.

There were even reason will be clear to many Swansea fans this afternoon. The fact that commercial revenue is the highest priority this coming twelve months is one. Plus, the focus on the Swans worldwide will increase awareness and commercial revenue in the club from the off. That faltered to some extent last year but both Cravatt and Cohen took the task on and we are told this is very much not the end and more news that will excite Swansea fans will follow. Much of the work is down to them, and not the outgoing Chairman, Andrew Coleman.

Luka also has a big share in the Zeppelin Craft Brewery which is established in Bjelovar, Croatia, just outside Zagreb. This year he has focussed in on more business investment and this comes with the news today on his interest in Swansea City. People will be asking questions and speculating but we have it on good authority that the management team (Alan Sheehan etc and the coaching roles won’t be something Modric will be immediately concerned with) He still has a Real Madrid contract that goes to end of June this year which was extended last summer.

⚽️ Will Luka be at any Swansea games this season ?
We are told not in the immediate due to his commitments at Real Madrid.

⚽️ What is the expectation on his influence now he is a part of the Swansea City group ?
Quite simply Luka has a global reach, Jason Cohen and Brett Cravatt have a huge vision for the Swans and they see nothing as unachievable. After months and months of hard work they have proven they can deliver top quality and hope for the Swansea support. Not only that the basic merchandise impact will immediately increase revenue massively.

⚽️ Do the swans see him as a manager or player in the future ?
Nothing is ruled out, but Alan Sheehan’s position has nothing to do with Luka investing. He has no link whatsoever to the three head coach’s who are forming a line behind Alan Sheehan’s for the Swans job. He has had no influence on that, two of the contenders were in motion many months ago as a part of a natural progression of future appointments. However, we do have news that Luka is available in a free in the summer.

⚽️ Details on how the investment is made and if it affects the current shareholding isn’t known.

The Swans have somehow got this deal through with a world figure who can bring in a lot of commercial revenue to the club. That’s the issue here, not the investment, not the amount it’s the connection. Commercial revenue doesn’t come within profit and sustainability, and that is the Swans focus for the forthcoming financial year.

Luka has struck an amazing deal with Swansea City, not only do they get investment, albeit not huge they do get certain access to him as a commercial revenue tool plus the interest is already massive. Congratulations to our two majority owners for this excellent piece of business.

Apologies our features are dealing with bugs after going LIVE. We are working on it.

Swans scrap it out to beat the Baggies
There were some worried looks when Swansea head coach, Vitor Matos announced his starting eleven against West Bromwich Albion, not least the fact he had no striker in the team. It turned out to be a masterstroke despite a fifteen minute period in the second half, and some uneasy moments at the end of this Championship fixture.
