Swansea City have been linked with Kwame Poku, the Peterborough United midfielder along with a large number of other clubs. Now about to be out of contract it seems the Croydon born player has gone for Queens Park Rangers.
Despite so much interest from what would be described as bigger clubs, including Swansea City, as it stands Poku was reported to be at the R’s TSG training facility at 4pm today. (Unconfirmed) The Swans we know are not in for Poku, but did express an interest in the player earlier on this year. We carried information on the player on the 30th December last year. There was also information on a tester bid for then Wycombe centre half, Joe Low. As we know with regards to him his form and stats quickly put off the Swans leading up to the summer.

Talking of Posh players, Cyprus international Hector Kyprianou was most certainly scouted by the Swans and this led to a conversation between the clubs in January, but dealing with Barry Fry at Peterborough is hardly easy. We had information which we discounted after a day or so that a bid for this player had been made. Kyprianou is still at Peterborough United. With Cameron Burgess and Ricardo Santos at the club it’s hard to see if there’s a centre half berth for Henry who can also play within a deep midfield. Latest as far as we are concerned is he has signed for Watford and will join them on July 1st.
We are hearing that no bid was officially accepted by the Posh from Swansea City for Poku even though it was reported by a Sky Sports employee yesterday. Our review of this player led us to be told that unless the Swans or any other club have hijacked the QPR deal right at the death it’s almost certain to be a QPR player next season. Poku would have been a great addition for the Swans to capture, but there are a number of targets for Sporting Director Richard Montague to assess. Allegedly all supplying stiff competition to what the Swans had last season in the permanent squad.
With nine weeks to go now before the summer transfer window closes and just around six before the season starts things will hot up again. The main bulk of business you could say has been done, but the Swans are still determined to get the right players in to bolster the defence, midfield and boost the clubs scoring potential. Loans are being investigated and we hear that talks are ongoing for a player from the Premier League. There’s no other information other than that but you would expect it would be a younger player who has only made the step up to the first team on occasion, and not a permanent choice.
