Swansea City v Watford : Positivity and Sheehan’s dilemma

It’s a 12:30pm kick off at the Swansea.Com this afternoon. There’s plenty of tickets remaining and with it being a Bank Holiday some would say that maybe a few more should be in attendance. There’s plenty of hope as the Swans look to take the sting out of the Hornets and go in search of their second league win of the season.

Last week a comfortable win, albeit only 1-0 and a terrific display from the Swans midfield ensured the first points of the season. (below) A wonderful strike by Ronald winning the day.

The Swans created numerous chances and as Head Coach, Alan Sheehan stated on Thursday he needs a more clinical finish to see off these type of games. However, he has almost confirmed that Liam Cullen will start today. Zǎn Vipotnik it seems will not. However, with the bad news of the Swans top striker target being lost after being so close you may expect him to feature on the bench ? That would very much depend on how Sheehan has reflected on his conversations with the player this week. Has the short passage of time given Sheehan time to reflect more and encourage that fire in Vipotnik’s belly ?

The midfield operated superbly as well. Franco, Galbraith and Malick backed up by Widell later in the game seemed very accomplished. Ronald had one of his better games and seems a man who wants to nail down his name on the first eleven team sheet this season.

Key to the game was the ever available Josh Tymon who rarely lets his team mates down. He is a danger and his link play was a pleasure at times last weekend. It won’t be long before his marauding runs reward him with a goal or two.

Alan Sheehan has declared a fit squad bar Ricardo Santos. And Cameron Congreve has gone out on loan to Dundee, but questions remain over the futures of Josh Ginnelly and Ollie Cooper.

⚽️ Watford news
Head Coach, Paulo Pezzolano will be missing Imran Louza who was sent off right at the end of the Hornets 2-1 defeat of Queens Park Rangers last weekend at Vicarage Road. Talking on the game Pezzolano stated, "We know Swansea is a very intense team, and a team which is very strong at home. The most important thing for us is to be fully committed.”

James Abankwah and Hector Kyprianou Are expected to be busy and of all the players to be suspended, Louza is one huge miss. Giorgi Chakvetadze Is still under the microscope as Watford are fighting to keep him at the club amidst transfer speculation. For us both sides are evenly matched going into this game, but another win for Sheehan as we are at a stage of the season where any win in any way matters. They need to set the tone for the coming few matches before the international break. Confidence and bonding through victory right at the start of the season can lead to anything, and it’s usually positive.

Team news later on the Indy.

You won’t get anything of note from a football club during any transfer window unless it comes with a caveat that it is in their interest for certain things to be mentioned, proposed or even disregarded as a result of information given. Swansea City have a very tight unit of those who have access to information and any leak is easily traced.
Big match report : Swans let it slip again at Millwall
It happens a lot would be the recollection from the Sheehan era. Unfortunately It still happens is the comment on Vitor Matos’s stewardship to date. And that’s conceding goals at the end of games and halves. Having got themselves into a position to take a point away from the New Den an added time winner from Millwall undone all the Swans hard work.

Swans scrap it out to beat the Baggies
There were some worried looks when Swansea head coach, Vitor Matos announced his starting eleven against West Bromwich Albion, not least the fact he had no striker in the team. It turned out to be a masterstroke despite a fifteen minute period in the second half, and some uneasy moments at the end of this Championship fixture.
