With everyone trying to get their two pence worth of detail into the sacking of Sporting Director, Richard Montague, most of it misguided or not understanding the basic details we turn today to EFL Championship football.
And ‘at last’ it couldn’t have come any quicker.
Today at 3pm the Swans take on the Tigers of Hull City at the Swansea.com. As many now know Adam Idah is fit, and after his slight knock away on International duty he came up trumps with a real strikers goal for the Republic Of Ireland. Zân Vipotnik also scored for Slovenia so both will be available today. Marko Stamenic was returned to Swansea almost immediately after arriving to play for New Zealand against Australia prompting the question, why did he go in the first place ? Scottish born, Cameron Burgess also featured in the game that Marko should have played in but for Australia. Even though Burgess has played for Scotland at age group level he turned out for the Aussies in a 1-3 away win. He started and completed that game.
Lawrence Vigouroux made his debut for Chile in goal, and played in two games against Brazil and Uruguay. That has been a longtime coming. Ethan Galbraith played twice for Northern Ireland, in Luxembourg his side won 3-1 away but in Germany last weekend they lost to the same scoreline. We know about our Welsh internationals and both Liam Cullen and Ben Cabango came through their games unscathed. Marcus Benson started the game for Angola against Mauritius and returned injury free.
With such a vast array of internationals, there are around ten who could be called away for international duty who are fit. Plus Ricardo Santos who is currently injured it’s a minefield of ifs and buts. However, today there are a few injuries. Jay Fulton is looking very unlikely with Stamenić out as well, he could take three weeks to be considered for selection. In amongst all that the Swans have a very competitive squad to choose from, and even though it’s early days they start this game in seventh place in the Championship. Head Coach, Alan Sheehan dodged the Montague question well in his pre match chat but he will be keen to get some training time in with his new players. Swans fans have a really special selection of players to look forward to for this game, There are a lot of tickets still available to buy which you can do pre match at the Swans ticket office.
Coming up after this game is a home tie against Nottingham Forest on Wednesday evening (8pm) at the Swansea.com. It’s fair to say there are literally thousands of tickets available for that game. We will report later on team news as we look forward to the return of league football at last.
