Swansea City : Rak-Sakyi chances improve dramatically

The Swans are still in a kind of limbo today as they look to at least seal a deal for out of contract defender Joel Ward this transfer window. And the news is ‘It is going to be a quiet window’ There could be movement in the academy but as it stands two young players of interest are not anywhere near to signing professional terms.

We have already reported some solid information on Ward and Palace winger Jesurun Rak-Sakyi this week.

⚽️ Two targets named

Another name that has been circling in our emails and contacts is ex Celtic player, Israeli, Liel Abada. Initially Sky Sports reporter, James Savundra broke this news. Others followed in their usual style but this player is not filed under ‘immediate’ as there is bigger business to be done. Despite Liel Abada being highlighted recently, as it stands he sits only in the minds of certain journalists despite his club wanting him to leave. No official discussions, approach or intent has been signalled by the Swans. Charlotte FC in the MLS (USA) are willing to let him leave on loan this January for the UK. Charlotte are keen to move some of their stock on this month and also have Nikola Petkovic about to leave for Seattle Sounders. It really hasn’t worked out for Abada in the MLS. Yes he is available and yes the Swans are more than aware of him. That’s about it.

Could he be a target ? Never say never, but then Gabriel Silva at Santa Clara has been linked to the Swans as a permanent transfer by journalists paid to report on this transfer window. And that won’t happen either. Loans though are always on the minds of every club in any window. It all boils down to the context of what is being reported.

Those who read our report above on Tuesday afternoon will recall that we made mention of Romain Esse being a target for Coventry City. We added that there is little if any chance of his parent club, Crystal Palace endorsing his release along with Jesurun Rak-Sakyi who is also a Palace player. Well, that part has come true as Esse joined Coventry City yesterday afternoon. A few hours before that the other player we mentioned in our report as of interest to the Sky Blues, Yang Min-Hyeok of Spurs also joined.

Why is this now of any interest to Swansea City ? Quite simply that’s Coventry City out of the race completely for Rak-Sakyi as a loan option. They were already aware that the Swans were pushing ahead a move for Rak-Sakyi despite the fact he is still officially on loan in Türkiye at Caykur Rizespor. Our information now is that Rizespor technical director, Recep Uçar is resigned to losing Jesurun officially this week. This he has now admitted publicly. With that now circulating the Swans are determined to complete a deal for the player as soon as possible. We have been told that if the loan deal is concluded then it’s potentially just a right sided defender that will be recruited. Rizespor are at a training camp currently.

Any transfer window is about building information and then keeping an eye not just on the Swans but other clubs as well. By collecting good quality news and then progressing it as we always try to do each window we can make evaluations as we did with Coventry City, then twenty four hours later it all fell into place. Remember and we keep saying it, there’s no more free radical as folk. Nobody has all the answers, but making an effort to get close to the answers has never hurt anyone. And anyway, it’s fun, keep safe Jacks.
