Swansea City have nine games to play before the World Cup Play Off semi final against Bosnia and Herzegovina on Thursday March 26th (7:45pm) The start of this run comes on Sunday at the swansea.com (noon) when the Swans take on Sheffield Wednesday.
There are more than a fair few tickets remaining for this game in the West and South stands. And if it fits within your budget you will see an ever improving Swansea side after the January window. Leo Walta has signed in a deal which avoided the Swans making immediate payments (money has changed hands of course) And Gustavo Nunes will most certainly feature.
A couple of reports on the player are below.
⚽️ Leo Walta, the inside track
These nine games are tough, really tough, they look like the sort of fixtures than will define the run in for Swansea City over the last six weeks of the season. So, let’s have a look at Vitor Matos and his last ten games, and straight away you can see the impact the head coach and his staff have made to date.
Much better and some of those games we know should have returned a lot more.
The next nine games as we said are tough. We think far harder than Matos has experienced to date. You only have to see the away games to note that. None are guaranteed anything at all. Derby, Ipswich, Portsmouth and Wrexham come with different challenges. Derby fancy their chances to finish in the top six by the end of the season as do Wrexham. The latter comes with media driven pressure and they are still smarting from their defeat in Swansea just before Christmas. Ipswich are talking about promotion too so to go there and take anything will be a pleasure. The game at Portsmouth is most certainly one of the hardest places to go for any side. They have seen a resurgence of late but are still looking over their shoulders. For the Swans to be looking further upwards they will need something positive at Wrexham and Derby who are currently eight and six points ahead in the league. And Wrexham are in the play offs.
It’s very tight.
⚽️ On the treatment table.
Whilst all the interest in the transfer window took precedence this week there are still some players having treatment and in two cases there’s cause for concern but hope for their inclusion this Sunday. Let’s have a look. This is the information we have.
1. Ethan Galbraith. He came on as a substitute at Watford in the 2-0 win on Saturday. This after a week of treatment before that game. He is still having treatment this week. We are told he is responding and will be in the squad on Sunday.
2. Eom (Below) Took several knocks at Watford (ankle) we are told he went into that game having responded well to treatment after the Hull City away game.
3. Melker Widell. Wasn’t selected for the Watford win, at the time we were told it was precautionary, However, up to date information won’t be available until tomorrow.
Zeidane Inoussa and Adam Idah are out for the foreseeable. Sunday gives an opportunity for home fans to see both Gustavo Nunes and Leo Walta for the first time.,
That’s what we have at the moment, we will of course be carrying more pre match news as Sheffield Wednesday look to new loan signing ex Swan Jerry Yates to make an impact. He joined Luton Town last year from the Swans for just over a million pounds. It hasn’t worked out for him with just two goals in twenty two appearances. He will link up with another ex Swan, Jamal Lowe. Jerry is now twenty nine and made his Owls debut in the 1-0 defeat to Wrexham. He was subbed off last night in the Owls 1-0 defeat at Blackburn.
Sheffield Wednesday face notable absences with Guilherme Siqueira (Achilles tendon) and Pierce Joseph Charles (shoulder injury) missing out; both have missed multiple matches and are unavailable for selection. Barry Bannan and Bailey Cadamarteri have left the club. Murphy Cooper, Jaden Heskey, Jerry Yates, Tayo Adaramola, Joel Ndala and Marvelous Nakamba are new recruits in this window. The club have paid the staff and players and have a preferred bidder in place to take over the club.
