Swansea are chasing Ecuador’s Jefferson Montero — and want to do a deal before the World Cup.
The Swans want to buy the pacy winger at the end of the season after seeing him dazzle against Australia in a warm-up friendly.
Montero is keen to come to the Premier League from Mexican side Monarcas Morelia — and the Welsh side are clear favourites to win the £4million race.
Cardiff wanted Montero in the last window but would not pay the fee despite meeting the player.
Swansea are poised to open talks shortly after failing to land Thomas Ince.
