Sausages on 09:09 - Aug 9 by exiledclaseboy | Richmond sausages are tasty but they have a very low meat content. Almost as low as the legal minimum. |
I've never really enjoyed them TBH. Aldi's butchers choice are nice

Sausages on 20:14 - May 13 by exiledclaseboy | Here's a sausage fact. The lowest amount of meat legally allowed in a sausage is 32%. You probably don't want to think about what makes up the remaining 68%. To (almost) coin a famous quote by someone I can't remember: "There are two things you don't want to see being made - laws and sausages". I'm a big fan of the cumberland sausage and Tesco Finest pork and leek sausages are fantastic.

Sausages on 16:19 - Aug 9 with 2434 views | Neath_Jack | Sausages take me ages to cook as i'm paranoid about them being undercooked in the middle. And i can't bear anything burnt either. Richmonds i normally have as well, and reading the Dr's post, i always feel bloated after them as well, saying that, i do eat the whole packet in one go mind.

I was under the impression 42% is for pork sausages and 30% is for other meat sausages. Under the 42% they are allowed to label as a sausage and not a pork sausage.

You are correct. I should have been more specific. Anything lower than 42% and it can't be called a "pork sausage". 32% applies to generic "sausages". Richmond is less than 42% I believe.

No. Cook them low and slow to ensure cooking all the way through.

The kids had them for tea last night; 40 mins on the hob at 20% heat. Then a two min blast to fully colour. They were perfect.

You're a real sausage man. It's also good to see the real sausage lovers have up arrowed the thread to nulify the anti-sausage brigade.
