This is awful from the club 17:52 - Dec 18 with 32427 viewslondonlisa2001

Today's Guardian publishes details of costs to young people of supporting their club, including ticket prices, replica kits and mascot prices.

To my absolute horror I see that we charge more for youngsters to be a mascot than any other premier league club (well, the same as QPR). This is an utter disgrace. £450 when clubs like Arsenal, Chelsea, both Manchester clubs and both Liverpool clubs charge nothing.

Surely with the income we have we don't need to be ripping off local kids (or their parents) like this? What about the Swans mad youngster whose parents can't afford it? How do they feel? Is there any provision for this if parents simply can't, understandably, pay that amount?

I realise that from time to time we probably have kids doing it for a special reason and they don't, presumably, pay (illness related and so on) but this is just terrible in an area where people are hardly rolling in spare cash.

I had no idea that we charged this sort of money - sometimes every player has a mascot and we're charging this for all of them? It's awful. Is this something that is widely known ?

They are shareholders, they do not own the club. I cant make it any simpler for you.

Do you come out in hives if you concede you are wrong or something?

Ok they own part of the club as individuals and collectively they own 80% of the club with the trust owning the remaining shares and as such have the power to award themselves whatever amount of cash they see fit.

No they dont. Nobody has a controlling stake, decisions are made by committee. You are referring to "directors" as one entity. The fans also own 22% of the club, you know, the ones that have to oay among the highest prices in Europe like for like.

Again you are losing whatever point it is that you intended to have because you dont wish to concede which is why we end up talking about walking to london.

He doesnt do that. He stops talking about anything he has clearly lost as if it never happened and then switches the discussion to absolutely anything else no matter how irrelevant until that is exhausted and then repeats the process.

You said the directors own the club.

Nobody owns the club unless you see shareholders as one entity.

Either way you are wrong.

You really dont know what you are talking about to you.

The directors are a group of individuals. Therefore the directors don't own the club.

So yes, if profit is to be put aside for future ventures then its already being put aside minus £2.4m for the shareholders, so it can be put aside minus 500k for the supporters who have been there long before and will be there long after.

Look martin Morgan huw Jenkins and a few others along with the trust own the club and you can call them the Easter bunnies if you like, share holders, directors, or Easter bunnies they still own the club.

Why ? Because if i was a director of a multi million £ business it's what I'd expect.

I would expect a responsible director, especially of a community club such as ourselves, to travel in a manner that doesn't take the piss, which your scenario would a little.

Christ on a bike. No, no they don't.

If you see them as one entity then yes, "shareholders" own the club. But they are not, they are individuals, so neither Huw nor Martin Morgan own the club.

Back to the point which you have decided to veer from again to do anything other than concede. Profits are already set aside minus £2.4m bonus payments to individual shareholders so it can be put aside minus 500k for supporters too (who also own 22% of the club remember).

Remind me again, is our motto "a club run by shareholders for the shareholders" or "a club run by fans for the fans"?

Excellent, then then you will now agree that you were wrong in your statement that Martin Morgan, "sir huw" or any orher dorector be it individual or collective.... DO NOT own the club.

In my job I claim expenses when travelling abroad on business trips. There was a time I had to book the flights and hotel myself, and seek reimbursement. You won't find anyone that isn't. It's pretty standard practice. You expect him to travel to the likes of Korea on his own coin? That's pretty unrealistic.

Although that is correct, think the issue in the comment

" he is invoicing the club for expenses while he seeks out "investors" "

May relate to the question of how appropriate it might be if any individual shareholder is billing the Club for for his search for someone to buy his personal shares to make a killing, as surly this would be a personal issue.

Well, if that was happening, I would agree it would be completely inappropriate. Actually, I'd even question the legality of it.

However, from what I know and heard, this isn't close to reality.

I think what Lisa, Parley and others of a similar thought are trying to highlight is that the club is becoming more commercialised every day and in doing so, the fan is giving less priority, the focus is on now on the profit.

Its no longer a case of what we can do for the fans, the new mantra is how much we can get out of them regarding certain aspects and this is one of them in relation to the OP.

Slowly but surely in the not to distant future it will no longer be a club for the fans, run by fans . Especially when the external investment is brought in.

Fans need to ask these questions and try to make sure they continue to have a voice.

Swansea is in realty quite a deprived area and the disposable income just isn't there for some.

Well you just made a good fist of making it up.

An example...

If you went out for a meal and complained that it was under-seasoned only for the waiter to come out and dump a kilo of salt on your meal. Would you feel it justified, again, to bring it up?

Well the waiter says "no salt at all and he complains, stick a kilo on and he complains"

Like all good things Daz, we are looking for a balance. It is not difficult to achieve so therefor it is not much to ask. You can be sure that if it were the directors getting shafted, then they would absolutely address it instantly.
