Our whole game seems to have gone. It's not like watching Swansea. Passing abysmal, no urgency, no movement, slow thinking. No centre forward to hold the ball for our midfielders to come through. Gomis is an absolute waste of time, from his continually losing the ball it allowed Blackburn to gain possession and come forward with the extra man.
We need a decent centre forward, a winger to complement Montero, Ki and Britton back in the midfield. That's before we talk about the back four.
Barrow looked like Taylor, went back every time he had the ball at his feet. That flash against Arsenal has not been seen since.

I agree with everything you've said in this thread, except the line "thank God we are in a position where we do not have to worry about relegation".
We have one recognised striker at the club who doesn't want to be there and seems to have an over inflated opinion of his own ability, as witnessed today. Where are the goals going to come from to get those 10 points? The only other guy in our team who seems able to score has just earned himself a three match ban.

I just feel that we no longer have the swagger we used to. We don't pass the ball at speed in the same way that we used to and we make mistakes. In defence, Monk clearly tried to change things by getting the players to clear the ball early and this worked for a while but now we just end up throwing away possession in doing it. We don't pass from the back in the same way - the players don't seem as comfortable in doing so. Partly because our full backs have been shocking but hopefully this will change with new signings.
Monk talked about intensity when he was firs in the role, but we're not showing a high intensity anymore and midfield (traditionally our strongest area) is now pretty weak.
So much to fix but the next few games have been made that much harder now with Siggy banned. Sorry but a midfield of Carrol, Britton and Shelvey doesn't fill me with confidence. Southampton will be licking their lips. | | | |
