Some can be done by adjusting the exposure - so the amount of time the lens is open while taking the shot. That's how people do those photo's where lights appear as streaks of light. |  |

So, my wife is toying with the idea of some form of editing program, photoshop, elements, lightroom etc. Any recommendations?
She's had a trial of photoshop and loves it, its also pretty useful for designing brochures leaflets etc which we do a lot in our work. But she's not sure around the price. |  | | |

Some nice pics there and effects, a mate of a mate has started photography, hes taken a few pictures of his car with some real good effects, where you can see the engine through the bodywork, its mental id love some nice pics of my car like that | | | |

Champions league trophy was near Wrexham tonight so I thought I'd go and see if it was down Telford's aqueduct as part of a Welsh promotion but they haven't got that much sense.
Anyway, sent a photo off my phone in to BBC weather and 2 hours later Derek was using it tonight. I took loads but it was something like this one.

My sister has been a pro photographer for 35 years and started off in the good old pre-digital days with dark rooms, rolls of film & b/w shots.
She uses a big F off Nikon DSLR for work, but just a cheapo point & shoot in lesuire time.
I got a DSLR a few years back but have never used it to its full capacity and usually have it in full automatic mode - that's just laziness & lack of discipline on my part.
Main drawback for me with it is that I quite often end up taking it out on boozy nights out while on holiday, which means I can never properly relax & get merry for fear of having it pinched - not good when you're in a back street bar in Cologne or Krakow.

All about the light and framing that. Some people have it, some don't. But presumably anyone can learn?
I used to be at college with a bloke who took amazing photos. He'd use anyone else's camera and turn out much better stuff than they could. People focus on cameras, but I'm convinced that's the smallest part of getting a good pic. |  | | |
