Amongst other things he was responsible for abolition of the minimum wage, all seater stadia, 3 points for a win and advertising on shirts. And then in his 15 years on MOTD, he introduced the panel of 'experts' - something we now take for granted- and sometimes curse!

You could say he was a fairly influential in the development of the modern game.
