#Swans U18s face @Arsenal #FAYouthCup at Stebonheath Park tonight (7pm). Tickets £3 for adults / FREE for U18s/OAPS

Swans target spot in fifth round

Swansea City Under-18s are boosted by the return of Joe Rodon and Daniel James for the FA Youth Cup clash with Arsenal at Llanelli’s Stebonheath Park on Friday (7pm).
The 18-year-olds were included in Alan Curtis’ first-team squad for last weekend’s FA Cup tie at Oxford United, which meant they missed the U18s’ league defeat to Arsenal the previous day.
But they return to the squad as they young Swans target a place in the fifth round of the FA Youth Cup.
Last Saturday, the Gunners ran out 5-2 victors in the league encounter between the sides, with goals from Keiran Evans and Jordan Jones proving mere consolation.

It reads like there was a very bad injury to our keeper, teams taken off while he was treated. Could have been precautionary of course.

I want a mate like Flashberryjacks, who wears a Barnsley jersey with "Swans are my second team" on the back.

Yeh, Twitter feed is not great so hard to tell but you are right players were taken off whilst he was treated (player concerned is our keeper, Lewis Thomas)

Went down last night to watch thought they did really well a few players in particular stood out Cullen, Daniel James and Lewis the winger all looked quality, hope the keeper was ok.

I went last night also, I agree with above post. But Arsenal were a class above our boys. They were more technically gifted players, as you would expect. Liam Cullen was right handful for them though.

Even when you know, you never know?

Good first half Swans switched off for 5 mins and it cost them. Cullen took his goal really well. Was James the number 10 and Lewis was the 7? Second half was a bit scrappy but both teams did well on a heavy pitch and Arsenal the stronger and more skillful of the teams but a good effort from the lads I thought they just lacked a bit of composure and tried to force the game too much at times. Any news on the keeper hope he is ok.

Dan James has been great for the u21s and was on the bench for the first team against Oxford. He could be a real gem.

Apart from the players you've named there's only one or two with any quality in our 18s. But that's true for almost all teams at that level apart from the big sides who import 14/15/16 year olds. I'm glad we're not involved in that market tbh.

Yes Agree with that, thought the 7 and 11 for Arsenal were quality was talking to one of the scouts and he reckoned that there were players there that had cost over 2 million each, difficult to compete with that!

Jeremy Charles came through the ranks after Curt and played a memorable part in our assault on Division One ( now Premier League).
Possibly he was the last ?

Monk had a great opportunity to blood youngsters last season when we were safe but opted for self gratification. There's too much at stake now to start playing the kids I'm afraid with the money involved In the premiership you can't blame managers when times aren't great to try and buy their way out of trouble.
Small windows of opportunity for developing young talent.
Nice to see Curt watching the game ar Stebo last night didn't see any of our directors there though.
