Our continuing world-wide appeal - remarkable! 21:34 - Jan 17 with 4525 viewsJJJack

I've always thought that we perhaps underestimate just how popular we are around the world these last few years. I was just having a butcher's a my FPL team and noticing that although I'm in the top third in the world out of 3,600,00+ players I saw that I'm in, what seems to be, a pretty rubbish 3,276 place amongst Swans fans. Then i had a look at the Swans fan league and was pretty astonished at what I saw. Of the Top 32 players in that league, there are no fewer than THIRTEEN different nationalities. I'm amazed at this. Here's the full list of those top 32 Swans fans' nationalities:
Wales - 9 players
England - 7
USA - 4
Norway - 3
Thailand - 1
Slovenia - 1
Croatia - 1
Poland - 1
Turkmenistan - 1
Switzerland - 1
Sweden - 1
Malaysia - 1
Vietnam - 1

Anyone else surprised at the apparent range of our fan-base??

Indeed.
Just checking rest of the Top 50 and another 4 nationalities:
Oman
Portugal
Indonesia
New Zealand

Now unless these people from far flung places are much better than us Welshies at playing Fantasy Premier League one could expect that pattern to be replicated across the thousands of "Swans fans" playing in this one League on there. So encouraging to see these people supporting us rather than your classic big clubs like United, Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool etc

From your perspective, yes - if they contribute to the club / they are reached by marketing / merchandising from the club.

From the perspective of the smaller nations like Oman, Indonesia, NZ etc it ,makes no odds if they follow you or Man United. Following overseas sides makes them less likely to support domestic football in their own nations.

There's a presence in Malaysia with regards to on the ground stuff, had coaches based over there to help develop football in Malaysia.

Not translated to much if any merchandising as yet as far as I know.

I'm still astonished at the fact that when I was working out in China last February and asked on here how I could watch the game out there, within minutes I'd recieved a couple of messages from Chinese fans, and within minutes again of telling them which city I was in, I was given the contact details of a Chinese Jack who happened to live 30 doors down from my hotel. This is China ffs! About 40 times the size of the UK and with 1.4 billion people!!.... Couple of hours later I'm in a bar with the legend watching the game on his iPad. Blows my mind. The reach of the Premier League is phenomenal
