Wage Caps 12:47 - May 19 with 1774 viewsshandyjack

Picking up off something from the Jimmy Hill thread.

It's completly unfeasable to introduce but if this was a possibility would you like too see a maximum wage limit introduce world wide in football. Say a deal struck that any professional born after 1998 would be confined to earn a maximum of roughly £150,000 a week.

The point about the South Park episode was the ridiculousness in calling it immoral for someone to ONLY be paid say a maximum of 50,000 quid a week for a leisure activity.

Not that anyone should be forced to play football for free. What kind of mug would do that?

Ps just noticed no pound sign on my iPad only dollar and euro. This is Obamas doing.

Thought South Park was about pointing out what a c*ck Kanye was.

How is it ludicrous - maybe in your opinion.

Players wages are purely a business decision, contract negotiations. A player views their worth as X, a club views it as Y. Same as transfer valuations are what a seller would be happy to accept, what a buyer would be happy to spend.

You cannot apply a maximum salary on individual players. It's illegal and immoral to do so.

Clubs aren't run as community projects. Haven't been run like that for decades.

Apply a maximum salary to all players, a relatively small club like ours paid out wages of £80m last season plus £7m to agents. Some players in the Premier league are on £300k a week and you don't think that's ludicrous? ... It's sheer madness.

Why is it illegal and immoral? Most occupations have a maximum wage structure.

SOME players are on 300k. How many precisely? 1, 2? Out of how many? Statistical outliers don't drive reality... those few players are on a salary that a) their skills have determined and b) the clubs have valued the salary as something worth the players services.

Your club those to pay wages of 80m last season. Nobody held a gun to your head, your club determined that the contracts were agreeable and in line with your club's business interests.

Which occupations have a maximum wage structure - individual organisations may well determine that but occupations as a whole?
