Released by Spurs, BR after him for Celtic. Think he would be OK as a replacement for Leon?

Never knew getting old would happen so quick!

I thought that he quite suited us.

Interesting. I'd offer him a contract. This is one case where I wouldn't mind Huw stepping in - doubt Frankie knows who he is.

This... he'd jump at the chance to come to us over Celtic

A tidy player for us without being top draw, and was suited to us. My only worry would be that he hasn't pushed on. Is he going to be another one with potential who doesn't live up to it?

Personally I think our priority should be a top notch box-to-box player who can sit alongside Jack and offer a bit more in the final third than Jack. Maybe that will end up being Fer, but I'd prefer a marque signing who can carry us to the next level.

He's more a cut-rate Joe Allen than a Leon. Not got the defensive nous.

He was okay for us but I wouldn't get into a bidding war for the lad.

Tidy player at Championship or Jock level maybe, but not good enough for us.

Watch Huw go and sign him on now.

I remember him having an outstanding game against Arsenal at home. We won 2-1.

Too lightweight. The facts that Spurs are releasing him says it all really.

I'd happily have him back and ship Ki out.

Leon is hardly heavyweight and we are not in the same bracket as Spurs.

Carrolls ability is nowhere near that of Leon's.

When Leon was Carrols age he was playing in league 1 or 2. Carrols got great potential

Gylfi was also surplus to Spurs requirements. They've got a very good midfield, and lots of decent-ish players for depth.

You mean he's not good enough for you because he can't regularly displace Bentaleb, Dier, Mason, Son, Lamela, Dembele, Alli, Chadli or Eriksen for midfield spots?

He must be really crap...

Few teams in the championship might be interested at that price.

Carroll's the better footballer.

From the limited amount I've seen them both, I'd say Carroll has the bigger up side; potentially could be better quality than Mason. On the other hand, Mason would fit into sides better than Carroll would.

yes thats why hes just been released because hes a better footballer than the guy they kept. Keep on shrooming.

And what is good Phaedrus, and what is not good. Need we ask anyone to tell us these things?

Suits our style of play better than Spurs. Would be cheaper than pursuing Allen and a reasonable plan B if we can't get Joe back. We need to groom a replacement for Leon.

Carroll was on twice Mason's wage. Mason's also a better athlete to make up for his lack of footballing ability, which suits Pochettino's pressing game.

And Mason probably won't be offered a new deal either, if he's not sold this summer.

Too many signings of this type and we would get relegated. Not good enough to be more than a squad player. In no way is he a realistic alternative to Ki or Allen
