Question: Officially is there a 'Swansea Way' still? 22:49 - Oct 4 with 2786 viewsmysonsarejacks

I haven't heard any official talk about the style of play for a while and the new manager doesn't play this way.

No there isn't. It's gone a bit hush hush since Jenkins started signing players who are incapable of playing it.

We are an indentikit bottom half team now, just with less funds and an ineffective recruitment policy

He is talking about the one that took us from league one to the Europa league. Some considered it a success.

It's gone. Until Robbie comes back

Swansea Indepenent Poster Of The Year 2021. Dr P / Mart66 / Roathie / Parlay / E20/ Duffle was 2nd, but he is deluded and thinks in his little twisted brain that he won. Poor sod. We let him win this year, as he has cried for a whole year. His 14 usernames, bless his cotton socks.

We've gone from playing possession football to players not being able to string two passes together, playing the ball on the floor to hoofball, signing obscure bargains to overpriced mercenaries, being a family club to a corporate club...

The Swansea way is dead.

This is true - unfortunately Garry Monk expedited the transition and no one since has had the capabilities of reversing it.

It's the thing that saddens me the most I think and there a few of us pointing it out at the time but unfortunately we were shouted down by those who were telling us that our performances were good and to remember how lucky we are to be in t he PL.

The beautiful football played under Rodgers and Sousa even Martinez has long gone so has the philosophy. We are now entering an era of American corporate football / soccer. Bradley has no real experience of british football or.the Swansea way.

Its an odd decision to appoint him as our manager but there you go,the only reason he was given the job is.because he s an American...lets hope it works out.

There no such thing.

No club in the world could continue to play to a certain style with the evolution of players and managers.

Remind me again how much we've played that style? 2 or 3 years from out of over 100 isn't it?

"Beautiful football under Rodgers, Sousa and even Martinez"

There is so much wrong with that sentence.

Hint... remove the words "Sousa + even"

And add Laudrup

It's just the internet, init.

It was a fair bit more than that, but your point is valid. What we probably should have done was evolve it, even if that meant being more pragmatic. We didn't, we went to Monks style very quickly and haven't been able to make a success of that, or get our old style back.

2 under Martinez, Sousa is open to debate, 2 under Rodgers, 1 and a bit under Laudrup, Monk carried on playing that kind of football until we culled some of the flair players at the end of the season. I'd say 6 or 7.

Your point still stands though. I think we would have been worked out if we kept playing it out from the back like that. The high press is a simple enough way of countering it

That's true as well but it can't be denied that in recent years the words Swansea City have been synonymous with enjoyable football. I'd rather enjoy watching Championship or lower league football than watching shite football and staying in the PL because of it.
