He peeled off the defender, Marseille play to his strengths something we couldn't do. I know Ligue 1 isn't the best to judge but watch how they play Gomis over the top or get crosses in, they don't give him the ball back to goal like we did over and over again. He was always offside for us mainly due to how slow our play is and how long we delay playing him in. His best times for us where when he had something to run onto.

We have form for castigating our strikers and wingers when things arn't going well. The problem does not lie with them. It is an under strength midfield, an inexperienced defence and a Board / Manager who do not have an effing clue what they are doing. There was a time when players left us their careers nosedived. Now they improve considerably.

In our current circumstances it is right that Routs or Dyer should be our sole wingers as they are considerably better tracking back than Jeff or Barrow. These two need to be impact players at the moment. The problem is Bob has not got a Scooby. Particularly in organising a defence and sorting the team out as such. Once the defence is shored up, and the midfield is actually holding the ball and creating chances, then that is the time we can consider also starting with Jeff as confidence builds. At the moment trying to stand toe to toe is killing us off as we try to get back into games after the inevitable defensive collapse.

Gomis on 14:39 - Dec 20 with 1038 views | Drizzy | I hope nobody has forgotten how utterly feckless he was during his time here. If he didn't score he would contribute nothing to our play. He can get away with that in a tin pot league. Nobody expected him to be Bony but his inability to hold the ball up for a man his size was pathetic. Spent most of the game offside or on his arse.

Whilst I agree he struggled with us I just don't think we played to his strengths enough. Our fans expected another Bony and that he wasn't.
