Talking to some mates about our defensive shape and organisation against Liverpool, we were wondering how much input Claude had. If he played a major part in the massive improvement, CM might well turn out to be our best signing during this window.

All well and good but from his interview Makelele can barely string a sentence together.

How's he meant to effectively communicate with the players?

As long as he speaks "football" he'll get his message across and the players will understand him.

Bradley was fluent in English but didn't speak a word of "football".

Swansea have conceded considerably fewer goals than the other teams in the drop zone, (and some further up the table) it’s just that there is no scoring capability.

Indeed, and it's all probably missing the point. We're not playing in any real different way to how we did last season under Clement. Difference then was that we had a better midfielder and set piece delivery and threat under that. Take that away and we're still solid defensively.. They just need to keep a clean sheet to get a point.

Well that's just not true. It's been said on here many many times that that player is not missed.

Yes, well, that person was wrong last January too when advocating selling those two same players.

What we’ve missed is good recruitment with the money that we had for him.

Let's all take a moment and think back to last season.
PC had repeatedly refused to play Leon despite us being in the middle of a losing streak (hull, b'mouth, west spam etc) which looked like ending our Premier League status. He looked devoid of ideas back then on how to turn us around and all was starting to look doomed.
Then thanks in part to Jack Corks injury at west spam, Leon was reluctantly brought back into the starting line up and we went on that run that saw 4 wins and 1 draw in our final 5 games.
So to my point, is it any real surprise PC is limited in his ability or willingness to adapt? The man is pig headed and stubborn beyond belief.
He got lucky by default last season, I'm not so certain it will happen again.

Honestly I don't think its our defensive shape that is the problem.

Unless the problem is that we're in it too much.

Well, if he had his way in January, we’d certainly not be in the Premier League relegation zone now.

Well yeah. The reason we're only losing by the odd goal is because when we're a goal down we generally show no inclination to get an equaliser, we're more focused on keeping our shape and not letting in another one. We might not be getting humped off the park like we were this time last year under Bradley, but we're still losing every week.

Just about sums Clement up that we were 1-0 down on 86 minutes on Saturday and had eleven players back in the box defending a Brighton corner.

he is doing the same with Mesa now.
The guy can do know worse yet PC insists on not playing him.

I feel for Mesa . I felt for Baston too, who was hardly given a chance whilst mediocre dross were picked before him

Mesa, could, be Britton s replacement but at this rate he ll be another nobbed off back home for no other reason than manager doesn't like him

It's ironic that PC came in and rejuvenated several players careers last season.
Now he seems intent on killing off one player's career for no good reason

For me he looked like someone who wanted to be standing up celebrating, but thought he needed to remain cool and calm as Clement was alongside him. But yeah, Makelele OUT for not jumping around looking "interested".

As for the other posts, quality footballer who teammates would have loved, ask Zidane and Figo. See Leon Britton at his very best, and multiply that by 20.

Oh shut up you clueless calamity.A fat load of good it done him trying to remain cool alongside Clement eh? Where is he now?

Chump.

Well that's one less to have one pay off when Clement finally gets the chop.
Makelele was on a whopping £60k a WEEK from what I've heard.
