Many Clouds past winner of the Grand National collapses and dies after winning the Cotswald Chase today at Cheltenham. He was known as a horse that needed oxygen after racing.Should that death have been avoided? He obviously had problems.

Wrong.

Horses race each other in the wild. It is in their DNA.

Try getting a horse to do something it doesn't want to do.. very difficult

They probably do race each other in the wild. Difference being they don't have some 5ft human being strapped to their back.

When have you ever seen a jockey whip a horse that refuses to move off the starting line? That's not what the whip is for.

I don't know what perverse you have, but if you think the feeling of being whipped as a human, is the same for a horse, especially in modern times, then you're misunderstood. Depending on which part of the body is hit, it is nothing more than a psychological reinforcement of behaviour (i.e keep going).

Do you know how much a horse weighs? Call it 1500lb

If a jockey weighs around 150 (for ease), then that's 10% of the horses weight

The equivalent to the jockey running with 15lb of weight on his back, people run with way more than that on their back every day mun.

Miseducation.

What a load of crap.

During two race meetings last year, Cheltenham and Aintree, eleven horses had to be put down, do you find that acceptable also?

Have you ever been around horses? have you ever seen the massive abbrasions riding crops produce on horses? the lacerations from spurring, the rashes and wounds from saddle and kit?

You are having a laugh if you think that whipping a horse produces no pain.

And the "can't get a horse to do what you want it to?" You do realize racing horses are trained right? *SMH*

Horse racing is a business where the rich screw the poorer .

In doing so, the rich get richer and laughingly ,cynically brand it the sport of kings.

Horses get up in the morning and think,,,I ll have a little run and jump some fences with some chums.

Nah, they get shoved into a box ,driven to a racecourse to get flogged until death for the amusement of humans.

No difference between horse racing ,badger baiting ,hare coursing, bear baiting.

It's animal abuse for fun

That its 2017 and we still flock to racecourses knitted out in best suits and dresses for this grotesque spectacle shames us all. Everyone of us.

Still, they re sporting animals ...like grouse

There again ,our monarchy love it

The difference is people choose to attach that weight. A horse doesn't have the option in the circumstance we're talking about.

Your argument is futile. There is nothing good about horse racing.
