On Sky Arts at the moment.

Is it me or is lead singer Joe Elliott a dead ringer for Dazzer? Clearly Elliott has lost his good looks...

Pyromania was a much better album.

Agreed.

Hysteria just for me sounded over produced, everything sanitised. Nothing offensive, targetted for American audience.

They also supported themselves on these Viva Hysteria shows with a false name and in disguise.

Though everyone knew who it was.

One of the most boring, sterile bands I've ever had the misfortune of hearing. The making of Hysteria on the Classic Albums series is worth a watch though - a technical masterpiece if that sort of thing interests you.

I'm not a fan but I've seen them 3 times (twice was free) and I think they're good fun.
They're absolutely tacky with their shirts off etc like Rocks version of Take That but good fun.

Mind you if I was nearly 60 with a body like Phil Collen I'd be walking around without a shirt on.

He started lifting weights too late on in life, looks like a rat on steroids now!!! Yuk!!!

My mate who knows him reckons he's changed as well from a tidy bloke to "unsettled"

Well he was very nice when I met him,in fact he was magnificent and I read his new (ish) autobiography a couple of months ago and he seemed quite settled he's been married to the same girl for a few years now and they've had matching tattoos.

Hair metal.

Urghh.

Some of the hair metal bands are brilliant. I can't really see how it's possible to generalise so much as to dislike a whole genre. In fact I don't even recall hair metal being used as a term to encapsulate it at the time although there were many terms and varying bands and sub-genres within it. Glam rock, sleaze, rock n roll, hard rock and more all added up to 'hair metal'. Everything from the Faces style of Dogs D'amour to the dipstick sry of Motley Crye = hair metal.

They were fairly tedious when I saw them live a few years ago. As were Whitesnake. Thunder rocked them both off stage. I love Thunder me.
