I've had enough of Virgin 11:51 - Apr 9 with 5682 viewsStarsky

Paying £90 a month for landline, Broadbank and XL TV package with 2 TiVo boxes.

The TiVo boxes are really slow reacting to commands.

Quite often it says that on demand and catch up are experiencing difficulties etc

The 100 MB broadband rarely outputs over 40 MB and is constantly dropping out all the time.

I'm currently using my iPad via data SIM card because I can't connect to the internet . Grrr

What's out there chaps?

I want a broadband, landline, mobile, basic TV package. I can use my fire stick with Jodi to get the rest of it.

What shall I go for? BaT infinity or a SKY dish or something else...

Talk to me

It's just the internet, init.

Give EE a try,got fibre broadband and landline with them,i binned of BT landline because of the price, getting good speeds and it unlimited use.Website worth a look and their call centre staff were very good, can only speak as i find.
Don't have any package with that, cos i don't need it if you know what i mean.
Worth a call imho.

I use the TiVo box and it's fine. It can be a bit clunky on its own, but I use it through the fire tv box. It is virtually instantaneous.

Ive got the new Virgin V6 box and have to say it's much better than the tivo, very quick indeed, no delay at all with on demand and catchup, the remote control is run on Bluetooth so you can basically run the box from the next room (just to pìss the missus off)

You might think I've forgotten, but one day, when you least expect it, my time will come.

I went to Sky when we moved in December but only cos virgin isn't available around here. Sky Q is ok, the broadband is fine. Get a decent deal and I'd recommend it.

Wow... Planetswan's most renowned Virgin customer sneaked over to Sky without telling me!

I'd have stayed with virgin if it was an option but it wasn't. Hardly ever had a problem with them going back to the days when they were called Cabletel. I would have upgraded to the new V6 box by now though. TiVo was getting old and clunky.

I have plusnet and my fibre broadband has gone very unreliable. Won't be staying when contract is up.

Even when you know, you never know?

EE are excellent - I pay 18 months line rental up front £299 (£16.61) and £11.50 per month, total of £28.11 per month on an 18 month contract.

For this I get:

Fibre BB at 38mb/s
Landline free calls 24/7 to 01, 02 & 03 numbers
Unlimited calls to 30 countries, and US mobile phone
1000 minutes per month to mobile numbers
Data boost on any EE contracts - went from 500mb to 1GB

For TV, so many options, free and paid for

Thanks ECB...

Just come off the phone to Virgin and have got a better deal all round but upgrading at the same time.

Tariff has gone from £93 a month to £66.

1: Broadband upgraded from 100mbps to vivid 200mbps (self install new hub)
2: 2x TiVo500s out and one V6 tivo box in (self install)
3: downgraded TV package from Full house to mix package (wasn't watching half of the channels)
4: Landline phone stays the same as unlimited days/nights/weekend + international calls

Result!

Now that you have negotiated a better deal if you suspect you are not getting the speed you are paying for, stick an Ethernet cable in the back of your router direct in to your PC or laptop & do a speed test. If it does not read 50/100/200 ( whatever you are paying for) get them in the phone & tell them. They will tweak the speed. Keep them on the line then do a retest. It is as easy as that to check it. However the speed you get through the cable will be nowhere as good on wireless devices.

Having 200 MB broadband will not make much difference to the speed unless there are 5 or more of you streaming at the same time of your router

I think you'd be mad to leave for another broadband provider mate, Virgin is the best by a country mile in this area.

If it isn't working properly then they will sort it out for you.

Can you get to http://192.168.0.1/ - If so click the check router status hyperlink, don't need to log in. On the downstream and upstream tabs you should see a power level and SNR. What are they currently?

Not fit to be a replacement for "proper" telly IMO.

Much better out there.

I've had terrible problems with my Virgin broadband the last few days, there's a problem in the area apparently and it'll take them 12 days to repair.

Even had to go old school yesterday and listen to the game on the wireless.

That apart, i've had no issues at all with them since day one.

I want a mate like Flashberryjacks, who wears a Barnsley jersey with "Swans are my second team" on the back.

If it's just for the footy then Sportsmania would save you a couple of quid mate. The same guy provides streams for both sites.
