Anyone going to Thailand make sure you take a day out of your holiday and go to this place the war cemetery where British/Dutch/Oz soldiers are buried who helped to built the death railway (river kwai)

Its a couple of hours north west of Bangkok
The cemetery is immaculate and there a people there constantly cleaning the place and cutting the grass. school children are taken there as part of their history studies and taught how to respect these people that died in their country

I saw a documentary on him not so long back, what he and others went through was terrible.

Continually being banned by Planet Swans for Porthcawl and then being reinstated.
Poll: UK European Union membership referendum poll

I have been there and found it a very moving experience. It's the ages of the boys on these gravestones that hits you. And on this occasion, the way that the local people keep the site so immaculate is really moving as well.

The museum there is also worth a visit, and taking a trip on the railway itself as well.

Wholeheartedly agree with your recommendation. They pick you up from your hotel in Bangkok as well and take you back afterwards (with the usual stop at the jewellery place that everyone gets so familiar with doing trips in Bangkok) so it's easy to get there from your holiday.
