Lib Dem manifesto-any point in discussing? 10:55 - May 18 with 904 viewsHighjack

We might as well.

They want to ban all diesel cars, that's a real vote winner that millions of diesel car drivers around the country will support.

They want a referendum on the deal of Brexit. I'd have a lot more respect for them if they just came out and pledged that if they're elected they will instantly reverse Brexit. They'd have a clear mandate to do so if they won a general election. All this nonsense about "the destination" is complete bollocks. They need to show some balls on this. It would probably get them more votes too.

They want to build a lot more houses and create a national development bank to pay for it. Good now we're getting somewhere.

They want to lower the cap that inheritance tax kicks in, so that those grieving people get kicked in the nuts that little bit harder.

No mention of tuition fees. Strange that one.

1p more on income tax across the board.

They will raise corporation tax. Not good news for small businesses.

Gays shall be publically flogged for their unnatural urges and crimes against God and women who have abortions shall be imprisoned... Oh wait, no that policy didn't make the final cut.

The creatures outside looked from pig to man, and from man to pig, and from pig to man again; but already it was impossible to say which was which.

If you start off with the premise "There is not a hope in hell we will ever win the election"...so "REALITY", then I don't understand why not make the craziest policies imaginable.

- Free cats to all those who have grandparents with a link to Guam
- Personalised monkey butlers for the 0ver 60's
- Weekly dance offs between senior member of the House of Lords, televised in a Running Man style dystopian battleground.
- Ken Monkou to give out free sun visors to all rail travellers on the southern lines.

etc.

You're are not going to win, ever, so why not?

They did that once and when the reality of coalition government came into force they got right royally shafted up the arse.

Legalising cannabis and taxing it

Apparently

How would legalising cannabis gain them any votes?

The target demographic would be too stoned to be bothered to vote. Any munchies offered by the Lib Dems to get said stoners to vote would be an illegal bribe.

I think you would have more of a problem that people couldn't vote, as they would use their polling cards as roaches.

Ingenious!

Make burning the polling cards a criminal offence, that'll bring down the deficit. Stoners too out of it to attend court, the fines rack up....

I'm sorry, that is a violation of human rights there. Any card based product within arms length is fair game to make a roach. Also, they are handy as makeshift toothpicks after a massive bag of Wotsits.

The term neo-liberal has been applied to Blair and Cameron. It represents a world view shared by...wait for it...liberals. The other thing they have in common is that they are all equally irrelevant now.

"Yossarian- the very sight of the name made him shudder. There were so many esses in it. It just had to be subversive" (Catch 22)

Once again, there's very little in the LibDem manifesto I disagree with. I'd vote for them enthusiastically if they had any chance of challenging in this constituency.
