Great news if this actually gets approved.

Rashford wont like that

Swansea Indepenent Poster Of The Year 2021. Dr P / Mart66 / Roathie / Parlay / E20/ Duffle was 2nd, but he is deluded and thinks in his little twisted brain that he won. Poor sod. We let him win this year, as he has cried for a whole year. His 14 usernames, bless his cotton socks.

Surely they have to turn it into a red card offence as well?

If they dont it would mean a player caught in game would get a booking and a player who gets away with it suspended?

The fact its retrospective means that the player dived and the ref got conned and already gave a match changing decision incorrectly... which means they probably scored from it. The fact they get banned for the next game is of little comfort to the side that just got cheated out of points.

Players will feel it is worth the risk still in the heat of battle. Like bringing down a man through on goal to save your team 3 points. Needs to be stamped out to a degree where it cannot affect the match outcome, only then will players not bother. Video ref is the only solution.

I disagree.

Start introducing match bans and players will stop doing it. Maybe not completely but it will reduce it a lot and help change the culture.

Another solution is to cancel retrospectively any goal scored from a penalty won by diving. The new result would stand.

You could only hope that it would even itself out across all teams and all matches. Your argument could equally be applied to the one game ban for accumulated yellow cards - why should their next opponent benefit? The argument against video refs is always that it will inevitably interrupt the flow of the game. I think retrospective bans is the best we can hope for.

The protests that go on after a clearly incorrect penalty probably would go on longer than any 3rd party looking at the incident and giving the correct call. Same goes for wrongly given goals.

Approved.

Good. But could end up punishing teams twice. For example, if Rashford had done that against us, won the pen and cost us points - the FA then bans him for the next game against Hull. We are punished twice and they benefit twice.

"Michu, Britton and Williams could have won 3-0 on their own. They wouldn't have required a keeper."

That's not a solution.

That would be an absolute shambles.

THis is already being done in Scotland. There the arguement is whether retrospective bans should be dished out.

Retrospective Diving Bans on 15:34 - May 18 with 1207 viewsJackFish

The best way to stamp it out is to change the risk-reward ratio and only award a penalty if a goalscoring opportunity is denied. That way Rashford and Alli's dives against us this season would have been free kicks only - still not ideal but better than a 90%+ chance to score from the spot when neither of them were getting anywhere near scoring.

Explain how.

What is a shambles about this?

On the Monday after the Man U game, the panel sits, it says Rashford dived, he gets a three match ban. The penalty goal scored is rescinded, therefore the new result of that match is Man United 0 - 1 Swans.

Alter the tables accordingly, job done.

You can't see how a game finishing and the result changing a few days later would make the league a shambles?

What we really need is video refereeing.

Agreed but that is going to take time, needs careful consideration, suitable technology and a shift in culture.

Retrospective diving bans is an easy win that should have been brought in years, if not decades ago.

This is just a way of avoiding the simple and obvious solution of video technology. Because the big clubs don't want it.

This hurts clubs like us far more than your Man Uniteds. Based on this season, if Llorente had done it, we would probably have lost the next match. Rashford does it and they just stick Rooney or Zlatan up front next game.

That would result in a load of free kicks given away in the box in ''undangerous areas'' to give the defending team a chance to regroup after a swift counter attack. Would be chaos.

It already happens, when clubs get points deducted for financial irregularities, for example.

You're still not convincing me.

It's certainly not beyond the wit of man to make a change in points a few days later, and for everyone to accept it. Besides which, rescinding a goal doesn't necessarily change the result of the game, depends what the final score was.

Unfortunately penlaties do no balance themselves out over the season. There are more awarded to the "big team" with only Bournemouth seeming to buck the trend

Trouble is, you can't say whether a game would have panned out the same after the disputed goal. Adjusting the score retrospectively is artificial. After Rashford's pen, Man U could have shut up shop to hang on to their lead thereby allowing us back into the game. If it had been 0-0 at half time Man U could have gone balls out in the second half and beaten us by 3 or 4. If you are going to retrospectively remove a goal, you should replay the match from that point forward, otherwise it's nonsense.

Retrospective bans is the answer.

At moment managers encourage diving(not in public) but rest assured behind closed doors they do, because they stand to gain a penalty, whilst the maximum sanction is a, yellow card.

If it meant losing delle Ali or rashford for 3 games, then managers will quickly change their tune.

Just as well they weren't in place when Paul Raynor used to play for us or he'd never made more than half a dozen appearances a season (one for the oldies)

Oh,..Dave, what's occuring?

Wouldn't it make more sense to use video technology? Just get the decision and the punishment right within seconds, so it correctly influences the rest of the game, rather than games that don't directly affect the opponents.

What about players who go down too easily? We know they have dived yet the contact is minimal.

What if a team score a pen even though the player has conned the referee? This solution does not help the team it goes against. Who cares if the player gets a two match ban afterwards? The damage already been done. The only solution is to bring in replay technology during games.
