There's nothing wrong with cheap punts. It only becomes a problem when it becomes the basis of your recruitment.
Those players were signed to fit a definitive way of playing, they were worth more to us than our competitors as they fitted our style. Same could be argued for Michu. We are more of an identikit lower mid table team now. We are competing for the same players with teams around us. If we sign players on the cheap, we may strike gold, but the chances are we are just signing players other teams don't want and they won't work out |  | | |

It's more simplistic than that. The long term goal is to buy players cheaper than everyone else. Great in principle and there are obviously notable examples of it working. Usually just means you end up with substandard players though. | | | |

Is it though? Isn't our wage bill is one of the highest vs turnover and around the highest below the top 8-10 plus a weak balance sheet? If that's right, it's just been a monumental balls up, especially given the players we have sold both coming off the wage bill and generating funds.
Maybe it's the accumulated dross mountain that we can't get shot of that is strangling our finances. On that point, have Fat Tab and Pouty Frog gone yet.....or rather, been paid a whacking pay off to piss off?
And what about the U23 bill that we keep buying players for? Is there a first team development strategy....certainly doesn't seem like it, although I suppose a relegation scrap with 3 managers isn't the time to judge.
Anyway, yeah, a 100k speculation is neither here nor there, and an essential flick of the coin for us. | |
