Neither you nor the OP are "thick" as anything. There's a dizzying chain of international tournaments that have no other meaning than to churn money for somebody.
I don't care about any of them, and watch only games with Swansea.
The next one up will consist of national teams which have more than 14 clubs within 100 meters of a major river, or one which can field a team of at least 30 players who have bald heads and full beards. FIFA is working out the comparative monetary benefits to FIFA and its top 16 executives.
