The Zookeeper's Wife - Excellent
Split - Very Good
Why Him ? - Watched 10 mins - couldn't bear any more
The Inbetweeners - watched about 5 mins before switching off
The Shack - sad, unusual and life-affirmimg at the same time. Well worth a watch
The Mummy - the wife enjoyed it more than me
Fate of the Furious - Very Good
The Hatton Garden Job - Excellent (didn't realise until after it was based on a true story - seemed too far-fetched)
Lion - a bit slow but builds up to a great ending
The Wall - thought it was about great warriors from the various dynasties, but it was really strange

A weird one which I accessed via Amazon Firestick the other night when there was nothing on mainstream TV - Mulholland Drive.

A David Lynch 'classic'. Very strange, but enjoyable on many levels. If you watched Twin Peaks, you'll know what I mean. My explanation of the highly surreal events after watching it did seem to accord with the general view, but it's one of those films that's open to interpretation!

Arrival - an 'intelligent' film about first contact with aliens.

Very moving it was too.

Trainspotting 2 - didn't think I'd enjoy it but I did.

Bill Murray has made some excellent films but also some "near misses" St.Vincent I enjoyed, Broken Flowes was ok, What about Bob was ok, Stripes and Groundhog Day superb

I loved Broken Flowers.

It's not a brand spanking new film but I watched "A girl walks home alone at night" a month or so ago and it just blew my mind. It's black and white and subtitled (Persian). Soundtrack and cinematography were out of this world though.

Upthecity!

The Berlin Syndrome.

Subtitled German flick. Dark, twisted.

A young Aussie backpacker meets a German teacher. She stayes over, they do the old Hokey Cokey on the rug. She wakes up next day and finds the place locked. She can't get out. The teacher has no intention of letting her leave. This is where it gets dark, hence the films title.

Thank you, goodnight and bollocks

Watched 'Inception' for the first time on Amazon on the weekend. Didn't know WTF was going on for the first ten minutes but the plot gradually revealed itself and became quite enjoyable. Interesting 'what happened there' ending, left open to the viewer's interpretation.

Wanted to watch Planet of the Apes yesterday, but had to get a film our youngsters could watch the same running time (approx) as our film.

Watched a few this weekend. Saw Her- in which a man falls in love with the voice of his computer. I been meaning to see it forever, but it didn't really live up to expectations. Especially the ending. "Oh after an entire film of exposition all the AI-powered Operating systems have decided to quit being operating systems, good-bye."

Saw the The Sands yesterday, which is a schlocky horror film where some kinds at a party wake up to some beach creature under the sand ready to eat them. kind of like a drunken critters but less reflective. it was fun for what it was.

T2 most excellent, Begbie is class.
A dogs purpose, very good, told gently and not too sad.
Fingering Phillipa, more one for the connoisseur, no storyline but quite explosive.
King Arthur, fcking pants.

Watched Life yesterday, thought it was terrible...clichéd and very predictable. Pretty much no storyline and an open ending to set the scene for Life 2 $$$$$$

Really can't understand the hype around it. Each to their own!

Ha, that was pretty much exactly as I described it after me and the wife watched it a few weeks ago. Rubbish film, but enjoyable enough to pass a couple of hours. Not everything has to be high art.

War for the Planet of the Apes is brilliant. A fitting end to a fantastic trilogy.
