There was a time when it was pretty clear what was right and what was left, this has completely changed in the past three years or so. The latest quandary for me is the support for refugees and wider more embraced Muslim communities in the UK by the majority of the left. However, the left was for many years a safe place for lesbian and gay people to find support and sanctuary. Nowadays the two don't correlate with every Muslim country advocating shariah law and death to lesbian and gay people.
That's just one example of many, maybe politics is changing with a further blurring of opinions but for me it no longer is a clear cut choice, I preferred the days of proper AntiFa action and socialist politics, however my view now changes as a result of current modern day problems and in some circles I am a nazi ( laughable as I never once killed a Jew to my knowledge )
We used to feel safe on our wings, now o matter which side you are on or we're on you are a snowflake or a Nazi. Extremism in experession discolouring the real past.

It is very strange Loyal, very confusing. As you know, I agree with you re: the Left's love in with Islam.
Another example: Tony Benn and other figures of the Left were against our membership of the EU, the Tories were for taking us in. I agreed with Benn. Now I get called right-wing and even get lumped into a box with the far-right on occasion for simply sticking to my principles on this subject.
Meanwhile the people on the "left" (at least they have assigned themselves as "left") argue for the status quo re: the EU...so they are aligned with the London bankers and the establishment in this country...they argue that the will of the people in a democratic vote should be ignored (in other words they are for technocracy/plutocracy).
The Labour Party has become the party of the middle class, the bourgeoisie.
Take the position they have taken on Student Loans and Tuition Fees. Corbyn says current arrangements discourage the working class from going to University. This is easily proved incorrect. In fact what Corbyn said is so wrong as to be laughable. Labour's policy proposes to give the middle class parents of those middle class kids who attend University a MASSIVE HANDOUT... there is NOTHING left wing about their policy, but none of this seems to matter either to those coming up with the policy or those who vote for it... All that seems to matter is how people "feel" about things.
The first time I remember observing the mass, emotional, delusion that is now prevalent is when Princess Diana died. I remember thinking how absolutely strange it was that so many people got so emotional, so physically upset about the passing of somebody they didn't even know and had not met.
At some point since the Second World War the people of this country somehow, subconsciously, en masse, seem to have retreated into a sort of virtual reality...and decided that life is easier to handle from there.

Tony Blair came before that I think. There was a massive hype around cool Britannia and his "Third Way" which blurred the lines between Tories and Labour. Stifled any real political debate. Say what you want about Corbyn but at least people are debating different ideas again.
