If I can highjack this thread for a moment, talking about old Neath and Ferry hostelries, when did the Ferryboat Inn close? It was a favourite haunt of my youth.

It was a favourite of ours too, but for different reasons to yours i suspect.

We'd spend a couple of hours on the golf course, finding and collecting golf balls, then stop in the Ferryboat to sell said golf balls, have a glass of pop and a bag of crisps with some of the money earned. Then pop around the back and swipe a load of the pop bottles where you had 10p back for returning them, we'd take them to a shop in the Ferry then get in the arcade for a few hours.

The innocence of youth

I want a mate like Flashberryjacks, who wears a Barnsley jersey with "Swans are my second team" on the back.

Thought so, brown envelopes must be flying around the relevant project offices, can't remember the last time I had a good drink in Neath, prefer Swansea everytime, that said there's a beer festival in Town this coming weekend which hopefully be worth a visit.
Fairplay to Mouse he's trying his best with the real ales, need a micro brewery in town,, its a risky one though considering the cost of setting it all up.

We played a gig at the Greyhound in Neath on Saturday.

It's a great pub with a lively friendly crowd but apparently slated for demolition.

Which is a great shame.

Been a good pub over the years, I haven't been in there for a few years though, they seem to be revamping that part of town with what though I don't know.
