It takes someone on minimum wage 9/10 years labour to earn would these overpaid humans kicking a leather football for a weeks wage. Surely the house of cards has to collapse soon.

It's hard to know where you break the circle. If I was working for a small company and knew they were bringing in over £120M a year due to me and my colleagues, then I'd expected to earn a big chunk of that money.

In my close friends and families and work colleagues, I don't know anyone with a Sky Sports(Football) subscription and a few of them have BT just because of the broadband. Something has to give if sports subscribers start declining. [Post edited 25 Jul 2017 13:18]

Sky will be around a long time yet and continue increasing the TV deals that's for sure. The gulf between the Premiership and Championship is getting greater year by year thanks to sky.

Sky are under pressure from TV deals as well with the likes of Amazon, Netflix and Youtube. The only thing I have watched on Sky the last few months is Game Of Thrones. I am using Youtube and Netflix 90% of the time.

I wonder whether the Premier League could cut out the middleman completely, set up their own brodcasting company and offer global audiences a pay-per-view package over the Internet.

The only reason TV money is so big is because TV companies are willing to bid such high amounts. The TV companies are only willing to bid such high amounts because customers are willing to pay such high amounts for their subscriptions. IMO the TV companies need to evolve their services to better cater for the modern football fan otherwise illegal streaming will continue and undermine their profit margins. | | | | Login to get fewer ads
£140K a week on 13:56 - Jul 25 with 4488 views | Eilian | Selling the rites to stream games is the future IMO. Stopping people hacking into those streams is another matter, however. You could go down the route and allow the clubs to sell the streams to their own games in the same way that they sell match tickets now. Cut the TV companies out of the picture altogether.

I could be a Swansea City season ticket holder, watch every game home and away and never have visited the ground. The marketing opportunities in America and Asia would be immense! You could have a 10,000 seater stadium and have 100,000 season ticket holders!

If that happens the big clubs will each demand their own deal and the likes of Man Untd , Liverpool etc will get a far bigger share of the revenue While clubs like us will see our share decrease , sky is not ideal but it is probably the best option available at the moment

This inevitably would be the case. I honestly think VR is the future of entertainment, imagine having 6 different viewing angles similar to what BT sport did for VR. Great for people who haven't got the opportunity to see games at the stadiums. All they need to improve is the video latency/quality however in two years time that's gonna be a thing of the past.

I tried the VR on Playstation 4 and my eyes struggled with it. It was impressive, but at the same time I had an headache after half hour.

Which will just force the TV deals to increase in value at a faster rate. The Premier league does not mind if the cash comes from Sky,Amazon or whoever and the more in the bidding war the better.

Still watched swansea games live for the buzz. Introdutory offer. This year the price is 7.50 pounds per month. Not sure how Sky get away with the high prices.

I picked up a 2nd hand PlayStation VR kit a few weeks ago, had the same issues but over time I seem to have got over them. Having a play around the other day I ended up on YouTube VR and there's a demo video from an England v Holland friendly, it's only about 10 minutes long, but I sat there and immediately thought that this is how we'll be watching matches in years to come. There were a couple of problems with the video, but still very, very impressive. Not forgetting that the PlayStation kit is the lowest entry point to VR and that this is the first generation of VR kits for the home... Sat in my living room but at the same time I'm sat at Wembley looking up at the arch! Bizarre but brilliant...
