What a tragic case, I can't imagine what the parents are going through, but surely the Doctors know best, instead of letting him slip away now, the parents now want to take him home for a week, employ specialist nurses and charge the NHS, the judge has to make a decision tomorrow, I don't envy him

You give it out, you take it back it`s all part of the game

It's a dreadful case though and this is just my opinion they've made the right decision to leave him pass away.

Leave em take him home for a few days too FFS.

Absolutely heartbreaking, my initial thoughts were that the parents should spend the time they have left with him, rather than in the courts, and to let Charlie slip away peacefully.

But of course, it easy for me to be rational when it's not my son, awfully sad story.

It is a terrible dilemma,on one hand you want to keep them alive as long as possible and on the other they have to make a decision to let him go,Jesus as a parent what a horrible horrible dilemma, we can only imagine the torment they must be going through.Do the judges know best, at the end of the day they have to look at his quality of life and whether or not that can be significantly improved,if the answer is no,then they have to make a judgement, not saying that is right, but it's why they are there, must be hard for them too.To go through the courts and try to spend as much time as they can with their little lad in his last days, it's heartbreaking.

You have to feel for the Ormond st specialists as well, they knew all along there was no hope yet had to endure all this we can save or prolong his life comments from so called expects who had never even examined him and had no idea just what an hopeless condition the little un was in.

As Flash said above it's easy to be rational when you're not in the thick of it but I think they should have made the decision several months ago.

Quite agree Dar, but the Pope, Trump and that American Dr just prolonged the agony, trying to give hope when there was none there

Both parents and doctors wanted what they thought was best for the little boy. An absolute heartbreaking situation for all concerned.

Awful for all concerned and especially the parents of course. The whole thing was played out in the media with the screaming Facebook mob outside the court. Sickening.

Worst was the false hope given to the parents by Prof Hirano, IMHO. He hasn't come out of this very well - hadn't looked at the child's medical records, didn't come to GOSH when invited in January (apparently) and having a financial interest the proposed treatment. Also, if true, threats against GOSH and the specialists is appalling.

The hospital yesterday made an unprecedented attack on US neurology professor Michio Hirano, who had led Charlie’s parents to believe he could be treated.

In a statement it said Gosh had shared their hopes when Hirano said he had new evidence that Charlie might benefit from NBT. But it added that they had learned with “surprise and disappointment” last week that he had neither looked at the child’s brain scans nor read the medical notes, other expert opinions or the judgement of the court.
It added that Hirano “retains a financial interest in some of the NBT compounds he proposed prescribing for Charlie”.

Plus Sky News said that the 6 year old child he said he's successfully treated has a totally different illness to Charlie.
Also NBT has never been tested on Charlie's illness, not even on mice!!

Everyday above ground ... Is a good day! 😎

This. Word for word.

An idea isn't responsible for those who believe in it.

I've just been reading about this case in the Guardian and I can't lie I just don't see the point of moving the poor kid from the hospital to a hospice.

Probably not, that's why the doctors are saying that the best place for the poor little mite is where he is now, hospital.

Time to let go....god bless
