Sorry To Ask On Here 21:22 - Jul 31 with 31354 viewsPhil_S

OK today I think I officially lost my mind but I need the help of my Facebook friends. I have entered the Cardiff Half Marathon and pledged to raise at least £250 for the Alzheimers Society - a cause very close to my heart. I don't ask for money very often but please can you guys please see fit to help me on the way to my goal.

All donations gratefully accepted

Donation made. Great cause Phil.

Been where you now are 3 years ago running my first HM. Ran the London Marathon this year for a cause of my own. Now made it all the way to my first Ultra. It's where you're heading!

If I can give you one tip (and we're all different). Don't beat yourself up over time. Don't constantly clock watch. It'll make you more anxious and you'll enjoy it less. Relax into whatever your pace ends up being. Your time will be your time. Finishing will be the achievement you'll take away.

Good luck.

Oh,..Dave, what's occuring?

I genuinely try to ignore the times if I can but easier said than done (think the competitive streak takes over some times!)

Not sure an Ultra is ever in my plans but certainly would love to do the London full - I'm with you on the achievement though, never thought I would ever get to this stage so thats the bit I try and remember

As prepared as I will ever be - one last short training run on Thursday and ready to go.

Did a half in training two weeks back in 2:05 so hopeful on time, 26 mile walk last weekend was the training (£700 for a different charity)

Lets see how it goes - not something I ever envisaged doing but just another part of a strange journey this year but a very satisfying one.

Good luck to anyone else running

Best of luck. If you've managed that in training; with added adrenaline and crowds etc.
I fancy you'll go under the 2 hour.

Hoping to get a late entry if I can.

Nice one mate great time as well.

I had a bout of man flu over weekend; made it a tough day. Manged 1:57 but was chasing a PB of 1:44ish. Knew from mile 3 I was struggling, was glad to see the end lol.

What's next?

Thats still a good time with man flu - that kills you know ;-)

Next for me is the Richard Burton 10k in November and then already booked for

Llanelli half in February
Great Welsh half in April
Swansea half in June
Cardiff half again in October

And will do Swansea Bay 10k too as well as probably Cardiff 10k

Want to do the full distance in 2019 - was tempted by the Newport announcement today but too early for me
