I have just read that his projected date of return is 16th September. Once again, he misses the first month of the season. Interestingly, the weekend before is an international break. So, I wonder if that date is linked to the league programme and he will be fit for South Korea. Call me cynical butI think that this guy is taking the mick yet again!!

It does make you wonder. Is he in this country or is he seeing specialists back home? We have always been very lax in the past letting players go home for treatment.
It should be done here. Plenty of time for family get togethers in the close season.
We need this guy fit and up and running.

To be honest South Korea would be one of the last places I would rather be, when you have that loony oop North threatening to lob the odd Nuclear warhead into downtown Seoul !

Well I am living in South Korea right now... noone here is panicking. don't believe most of the media... its not as extreme as what everyone is saying.

And South Korea has one of the best medical industries I have seen... they are ahead in so much there.

Yes we need Ki fit and up and running... but also motivated! Sadly the words Ki and motivated are seldom seen together......

Thanks for the feedback. It seems many countries now have better health care than we have here. The point for me though is sick leave us likely to be longer of you are in the know with a doc who will write a sick paper. Our lot go private anyway so their treatment will be top notch. It is the rest of us who suffer..
With regards to Kim Whatsit then I agree. They do not have the death and glory mindset of ISIS. We would be deep in it if they had nuclear capability.
If N Korea tried to send off a warhead the Yanks would pop one through his bathroom window. The guy is not dull, he knows this. Word is that once he has the capability he might be ready to talk.
Still I would rather see the end of the nutjob and the cruel exploitation of his people....

Agree. When he's up for it he is a useful footballer, not outstanding but neat and tidy, thing is his best games seem to average one a month if that ! coming back late/always seeming to be injured at the start of the season means he starts off behind and ends up out of the loop until January time where every player is needed, i do wonder if he can physically cope with a full season .

I've never been that impressed, think Laudrup had him pegged early doors, steady eddy player nothing more.

Well the news over here is that Kim launched an ICBM into the Pacific and it will be only a matter of time until he sticks a nuke on top of a rocket and fires it at West LA ! Admittedly it was Fox News and Donald Trump that the news did eminate from, not that those two would ever engage in any 'fake news' !!!!

He had the Op in S.Korea after he picked up a knee tendon injury on Intl duty.

Our medical staff went out to see him to check on him, and give him a rehab programme whilst it was best he didn't travel post-op.

And he has since returned to the club to continue rehab.

it's a 3 month rehab job.

And S Korea's final qualies are on 31 August and 5 September, so if he's not fit until mid-September, he wont be playing for them!

So cut the guy some slack.

Clement likes him. He's a decent player when he's played in the right way, with like-minded players like Leon along side him.

So i take it Ki pays for our medical team to fly out? or is all claimed on insurance ?

Would be bit of a blow if we have to keep flying people over at our own cost to check on the fooker like..

Yes 100% if they decide to stay thousands of miles away in their own country rather be treated in SA1

Ki had a minor operation on his Knee! Hardly life threatening, and I doubt whether he would have had to be winched onto an aeroplane to get him home!

I don't know, thats what i'm trying to find out.

I think if they are contracted to SCFC and they decide to persue treatment in S Korea instead of London then that's an expense incurred that may not need to be, of course the economics may be that treatment is better in S Korea and the comfort of the player is also paramount for all i know, but when it comes to sending people out to asses him doesn't that mean we are then short of medical staff at the Swans training base?

We had huge issues with Bodde, the Michu thing was IMO not great, there is a History of us not getting our return when pandering to the player.
I would assume medical expenses are covered by insurence but i really have no clue how it all works. How do we know Ki is being a good boy when in S Korea and doing his exercises correctly etc, etc.

It's a valid point, and we as a club get to perhaps pay thousands for an unsatisfactory result while leaving our own medical staff short handed maybe ?

It's not like British players are kept locked up at the training ground when they're injured to "keep an eye on them".

Footballers are adults and professionals and are treated as such unless there's definite reason (and contractual scope) not to.

I can well understand that, yet at the same time they have a man at the club who opens bank accounts for them buys IKEA furniture for them, tells them how to get a car etc, etc, etc

So that argument of "keep an eye on them " actually isn't that far fetched, you've not really answered any of my points here either, we had issues with Bodde not doing what he was supposed to do, these players are multi million pound assets that mostly don't need to be locked up at the training ground because they are top professionals...normally.

If they are the other side of the world how do SCFC know they are doing everything possible to get fit and are doing everything 100% correctly with training regimes etc ? a player may have best intentions to recover correctly but being as they can't do fook all themselves these days why then can we trust them to be left to their own devices ?

Why not say, ok see you at the training base tomorrow where they can be monitored correctly in what is an apparent state of the art facility? if we arn't using the state of the art facilities and players are fookin off all over the world to recover then why even bother spending money on the stuff?

I get your point about how dedicated these players are, and don't doubt that for most but History with Michu and Bodde tells us that
1, It's possible that some players wont follow correct training regimes.
2. It's possible with daily monitoring that early problems can be spotted sooner rather than later.

I don't see how Ki can't be in Swansea where we can "keep an eye on him" that is exactly the remit of the medical team when a player is recovering , especially one that is on 40 k a week !

Footballers certainly arn't adults in many cases by the way, but i get your point.

What is the difference with Llorente being around the place with scaffolding on his arm and Ki about the place with scaffolding on his knee?
Both would require different fitness regimes but they are part of the group and will have an opportunity to bond with all our new signings. Admittedly that one is on the back burner a tad at the moment :-)

I would much prefer a projected sale date, no fcking good poncing round Korea, regardless of injury he should be at the club training and learning for the new season.
File under cnt.

Llorente regardless is atvthe club, I will give him that much but he is no different to Gylfi, both are angling for a move.

Difference is we pay his over inflated wages and instead of poncing about in his luxury pad in Seoul he should have had is operation in the UK and be having his rehabilitation in SA1 👍

Michu's issues came down to on-the-field actions (kicking boards, being there too often) and genetics (we knew he was a potential sicknote before we signed him, it was always the risk) more than anything he did off it while with us.

"Doing everything possible" to recover from minor surgeries is usually 99% sitting on your arse in front of the tv. Until you're ready to get back to regular training and build fitness it doesn't matter where you are. Yes he could be here but that's going to be extra expense for the club for literally no benefit.

It does tend to be better to get the surgery soon after the injury rather than flying to worse doctors in the UK to have it done just to stop idiots moaning ffs.

I agree that it should be done asap. Expertise is all over the world however. It would be a very happy coincidence if th top knee surgeon is a South Korean.
Bodde was a prime example. We anted him to go to the States to the bloke who sorted out Micheal Owen. Ferrie went to Holland instead and the rest is history. Who knows what the outcome would have been had he gone with the Club's advice.
Get it done by the experts whereever they are I say. Once they have finished though, agree a fitness regime, and get the player back here to recuperate.
