I'd love to get some slow worms for my grandson to hold. Obviously I'd leave them go afterwards.

Them and rats just about tolerate mice but not those two, nothing else doesn't bother me.

He'd have had his brethren with him as well, well at least two of them. Reptiles Dineen and Morgan.

We have slowworms in our garden but if picked up they are likely to shite/pee on you and apparently it is mank. They are beautiful creatures. If you have any relatively quiet bit of longer grass, just put an old bit of metal zinc sheeting down and they just love getting warm under it.

Rare species of snake found in UK on 21:30 - Aug 8 with 1498 views | felixstowe_jack | I have both grass snakes and slow worms in the garden. They both love to hide under old fence panels or metal sheets. They also like compost heaps. I often have to move slow worms when turning my compost heaps to a place of safety they don't excrete any foul smells or substance when handled. They will also shed their tails if attacked by a predator. Grass snakes have a couple of methods of avoiding predators they either lay very still playing dead or do indeed discrete foul substances. They much prefer to just slip away into the vegetation is disturbed. They are both given protection against killing, injuring and sale, etc .

Rare species of snake found in UK on 21:36 - Aug 8 with 1480 views | ItchySphincter | See quite a few slow worms and grass snakes flattened on the road in hot weather. Drove past a grass snake trying to cross recently and tried to point it out to my two boys in the car but they missed so persuaded me to turn around and go back for another look. Got back just in time to see a lorry go over it.
