And their salaries that they receive.
Blame who you want but this is the issue. That's why there is little available for transfers, and not just at Swansea. Newcastle have openly stated the same. I also believe the yanks have creamed a lot off the top but this is the problem.
Football is eating itself, and we should stand back and laugh.

What do you suggest ? A salary cap at Swansea ? If so championship here we come.
A big no from me.

Exactly
We had the perfect opportunity to reset our finances by keeping the extra skymoney and not just giving it to the players and agents. The whole Swansea ethos has being buying cheap and selling big.
Since we've been spending more than we receive, have we improved? No.
The premier league greed is the ultimate disconnect for me, along with this American abomination.
It's like 9th floor x 1000

One year we may lose a few million £ and the following make a few million £, but overall the club isn't in debt.

A bit of open transparency from the club as a starter.
Ala Newcastle.
But as we know they don't do honesty very well.

It's the same in any walk of life if you can see there's money available, people will want the biggest slice they can. This is to the detriment of football and most of all the loyal fans whole follow it.Its going to backfire big time,it's unsustainable.

No wouldn't say that at all.
For example Llorente is on £70 k a week. If we had a cap say £50 k a week, we would probably playing in the championship this season.

Had a few discussions these past few weeks about how stupid and unsustainable the money has gone. No player could possibly be worth £200m, or even half that. Take yourself out of football for a second and think what Gylfi's £50m would buy in the real world, it's an insanely staggering amount of money. As has been noted, the club could buy the stadium and still come away with change. One player worth more than an entire frigging stadium for christ's sake.

Most of our share of the Sky money goes on paying the insane wages the players get. It's pointless when fans have a go at the Americans for "not putting their hands in their pockets", £20m or £30m isn't the kind of money you can just whip out on a whim, look at that amount outside of football, in reality it's fuking mental levels of money but these days you'd be lucky if it'd buy you a Chadli.

With the biggest clubs spending more and more every year we're simply going to be unable to compete any longer. We were always at a disadvantage playing teams who had single players worth more than our entire squad, but without a multi-billionaire sugar daddy we're increasingly looking at only being able to afford to buy players of Championship quality anyway. It's sad but the only way forward I can see here is for the rich clubs to bugger off and set up their own European super league and leave the rest of us to compete in the real world.

Interesting the Swans revenue to wages is approx 85%

The top 6 revenue is far higher, but their wages to revenue is so much lower

Man Utd Revenue £515m. Wages to Revenue 47%
Man City Revenue £393m. Wages to Revenue 50%
Arsenal Revenue £350m. Wages to Revenue 56%
Chelsea Revenue £335m. Wages to Revenue 69%
Liverpool Revenue 302m. Wages to Revenue 69%
Spurs Revenue £209m. Wages to Revenue 50%

Figures are for 2015/2016 Season

Everyday above ground ... Is a good day! 😎

As alluded to above, the real problem is that we are too commercially dependent on the tv money - which then puts us on the bottom tier of clubs financially in this league.

The new owners seem keen to address this (the real meaning of "next level"?).

Yes the wages are obscene - but no more so than other high profile roles in high profile industries. We need to spend the going rate if we're to attract the right talent (again - same with any competitive industry)

So if you're looking for someone to blame - it's the old shareholders, including the a Trust. They should have appointed real commercial expertise to diversify and grow revenue streams much more aggressively over the last 10 seasons. Our own amateur roots at board level has caught up with us.

Thing is none of our players are in high profile roles in this industry.

I strongly disagree. These guys are play for a team in the highest profile league in the world where an average match is watched by 12M people. (La liga averages 2M)

OF course they are. They are premier league players.
I just don't understand some Swansea fans. Here we have the club playing in the premier league, with the whole city benefiting from the exposure that brings, and yet we have some fans moaning about something or other.

The players earn huge salaries, so what, that's the nature of the beast. You have no choice.

A world wide wage and transfer cap should have been put in place years ago. Too late now though.

Greed f*cks everything up in the end.

I want a mate like Flashberryjacks, who wears a Barnsley jersey with "Swans are my second team" on the back.
