Stats, can someone explain? 21:05 - Aug 16 with 2481 viewskarnataka

The stats say we didn't have a shot on target against Southampton but surely that shot from Tammy after he'd left a Saints defender on his arse in the box, was on target until it hit a retreating defender? Why does that not count? Forster certainly thought it was goalbound.

I think a shot on target is one that would have gone in if the goalkeeper hadn't stopped it or a defender had cleared it on the line. Tammy's shot hit a retreating defender who wasn't on the line - we don't know if it would have gone in.

I was at the Southampton game, and based on my layman's definition above, I didn't see a shot on target.

This is by no means gospel but I will at least try to answer your question without being a cock.

I imagine it counts as a blocked shot as it hit the defender rather than on or off target.

It was on target until it hit someone, ask Fraser Forster, he knew it was on target.

Wow, you really do have some issues, don't you? Are you incapable of answering a simple question just with a simple answer?

And my name isn't Jesus BTW.

This.

Does not count if the defender blocks it - stupid really.
