Probably a tactic of getting the offer out there and unsettling the player. No club in their right mind are ever gonna accept a first offer unless the selling club make it public knowledge of their asking price

Unfortunately, a compromise deal of £15 million with add on's will get Clucas. £15 million is now the £5 million pound deal even though Huwbert will go apoplectic at the thought!

Aside from Laudrup signings, it's what we've done every window. Our DOF thinks somehow it works versus making us look like twxats. Also appeases our apathetic or dull fans that believe the 'we tried and failed to get quality so settle for Ngog / An other non PL player' over and over again.
