Away End 16:00 - Aug 20 with 3199 viewsAl_Bundy

Nothing worse than seeing the away fans sitting in the prime position behind the goal especially when Man U scored yesterday celebrating with our fans put in the corners... something else club is way behind on other astute clubs hiding the away fans away on the sides or the corners.

Put them in corners? All 2000 of them?

I'm sure there's been a rule change about where away fans must be.

Isn't it something to do with keeping the concourse segregated?

I agree though. Be far better to have Jacks behind both goals if possible.

North East corner with a section either side a bit like Leicester do it.

Having our fans behind both goals would help our cause.

How would it help our cause?

I want a mate like Flashberryjacks, who wears a Barnsley jersey with "Swans are my second team" on the back.

Yes and it affects only Newcastle in the premier league, which they have appealed against and won therefore no changes at any ground.

What a load of f*cking nonsense.

How have we managed to get to where we are today without having our gormless fans behind both goals?

Are we genuinely questioning that fans behind both sets of goals would be an advantage?

Yeah you're right .. all the Prem clubs and most of the Championship hide the away fans for no apparent reason.

What is the advantage? Do they get more goals because of this? More penalties awarded? More opposition players sent off?

The rule changes are that there must be a section of away fans pitch side to stop teams sticking all away fans on the third tier in the corner.

Definitely think we should move them to the far corner where north stand meets west, less impact on the game if we stick them down by the corner flag, rather than screeching continually at our goal keeper for 45 minutes (just ask Fabianski and you'll have your answer)

I find at the Emirates away fans have less impact stuck in the corner, and at SUnderland I should have taken my binoculars

Sorry but not sure why anybody in there right mind would want to sit behind the goal and watch the game through a net given a choice. I did this at Shrewsbury away and it was awful.

Okay.. my take rightly or wrongly is having away fans out of sight minimizes the support visually players have. It may not diminish vocal effect . Players appear to be more confident, encouraged when they play towards their own fans and those fans can have an effect on decisions on weaker refs behind the goal. The home team should be putting as many advantage in their favour as possible and I think when away teams coming out at the Liberty looking left and seeing large sections of their own fans directly behind the goal but give them a lift.

Can't be a coincidence most clubs do it yet we give away fans a key section of the ground
especially if they take their full allocation

It is a psychological advantage to be attacking a goal with your own fans behind it. I'm surprised anyone is arguing with that. How much of an advantage it is, is up for debate.
