As soon as Siggy walked we should have had players coming in. 07:51 - Aug 21 with 3796 views | TheResurrection | Clement now saying he's hoping to have someone in before Palace but still talking like they're searching through a list. By now these should've been specific targets with deals tied up. The Trust prepared a statement of concern and then went into hiding and brushedthings under the carpet AGAIN. Where is it? Produce it. And show the fans you actually have the tiniest amount of balls and care more about us than your new cosy bastard relationship with Steve and facking Jas !!!! This is unbelievable. There's just over a week to go FFS.

As soon as Siggy walked we should have had players coming in. on 12:11 - Aug 21 with 1066 views | majorraglan | My take on things is that the new owners won't be investing any of their own money in to the club, the money to fund new purchases will have to come from sales of existing players, profits generated by the club or income drawn down in advance from future TV money. The club have moved quite a few fringe players on and costs have been cut. The squad is now quite thin on resilience and quality. I get the idea of moving GS on and using the cash to improve the squad and the concept of the team being a better unit than the individual components, but as The Res quite rightly points out time is moving on and the transfer deadline is fast approaching. Last seasons business was done late in the day and it put the club on the back foot for most of the season. As it stands the squad isn't good enough to compete and waiting until December when half the season will have passed just isn't good enough. HJ is now a salaried employee and to an extent will do what he is told by the owners. He still has shares in the club and I am sure he will want to get the maximum return on them at some stage in the future, so he will want the club to retain its PL status, but he needs to get things moving. Burnley and Huddersfield, 2 clubs I would expect Swansea to fighting with to avoid a relegation spot have already picked up points, the club can't allow a big gap to open. If I was PC I would be cheesed off. [Post edited 21 Aug 2017 12:12]

If I was Paul Clement and I didn't get the players I wanted by the transfer deadline I would walk! His stock after what he did last season will be high and he would walk into a lot of clubs as a head coach and would certainly walk into the marjority of top clubs as a first rate assistant coach.

As soon as Siggy walked we should have had players coming in. on 12:30 - Aug 21 with 1018 views | jacksfullaces | the last 2 Summers (or end of season) have both led to HJ and others remarking that we won't repeat mistakes of previous seasons and will prepare accordingly. and yet the same thing continues to happen. without the key personnel being in place over the Summer (and knowing Gylfi was leaving) we might as well not have had pre season, as we are already close to some panic button signings and must win games. the board are running this as a business but not one with any long term planning, just day to day gains. HJ should not be allowed to bluff and bluster his way through another season, where it is clear more luck than judgement is really keeping us alive in the Premier League. we look like a club with no long term strategy on or off the pitch, and there is hope that we can find short term managerial appointments (Clement, Guidolin) who can make some immediate impact. there is no blueprint for our footballing style anymore, and clearly no transfer dealings that feed into anything like a long term plan. our luck will run out eventually. not sure what the trust can do, but yes, probably need to be more in the mould of holding the key board members to account than looking to work with them going forward. if that was the case I would rejoin.

I think this formed part of the reluctance to let Siggy go...not just for the football aspect, but also because of the predictable aftermath.

Correct. £45M for Siggy was only a great deal if the money was used wisely to get us away from the total reliance on Siggy to Llorente's forehead. I have never had any belief that the powers that be would be able to produce the goods. I desperately hope I am wrong and that in ten days time we'll have a decent looking squad capable of playing to Abraham's strengths along with another striker (Bony?). The way things are looking right now I'd be happier if we were still going to play Siggy to Llorente's forehead football which got us 29 points in the second half of last season than hope that the people in charge have a master plan that they can execute.

Maybe they did have players lined up for when Siggy was sold.....and these players that are now being linked to us, are the players we lined up. So fair play, our scouting/forward planning team have.been working hard behind the scene..well done..

Hmmm.... not for me, not one bit. The Siggy to Llorente borefest never worked from Aug to Jan. The 29 points came from our emergency January signings. Yeah, Siggy and Llorente get all the overhyped accolades but Olsson, Carroll and Ayew were the difference for me. If Lucas is coming in, then I'm happy. Phase 1 of Project Replace Borefest complete.

Absolutely. If the squad isn't strengthened then we are nailed on for relegation in my view. A few injuries and it'll be a certainty. I hate being this negative- but neither am I blind, stupid or deluded.

Borefest? Some of Llorentes goals were pure football porn for me. The second at Anfield, the winner against Burnley...... Like you I want a return to the aggressive passing game we had under ML but we have to have the players to do that. My worry is that Jenkins has to find those players. I want him gone and a decent recruitment team in his place with knowledge and contacts in the European market. If we have to rely on last seasons style them I would go with it as our survival at this level is the most important for me. It needn't be long term. Hopefully we can get The Ditherer replaced. Btw August to January last year was a complete clusterfeck. I amsurprised he had any goals. I agree those January signings helped him. Most are still here so we are good to go. I hope Jenkins gets his house in order and we get a team that is capable of playing both systems therby accommodating both strikers (not necessarily together of course). A plan A and B is vital for most good sides. [Post edited 21 Aug 2017 16:43]

I thought I had read a previous PC statement that said replacements and targets were lined up pending the Siggy sale, anyone else see this? |

I feel he looks and sounds worn down by the money men. If he goes, hope he walks before he is pushed out and blamed by these idiots that run our club |
I don't know how HJ and PC relationship works, but agree he's seems to have become the mouthpiece for th Huw/Board and disappointed he's endorsed our transfer policy of no players in until Siggy sold and it seems, his contacts in Spain, Germany and UK ignored. Got exited about links with his old players like Badstuber, but so far links like Chadli and Clucas look uninspiring. Unless Tammy absolutely smashed it, I don't see where our goals from midfield will come from. 10 days to sort it .

I believe the representatives of the Trust are hard working genuine people. However I feel it's a "boys v men situation" - the board know the zTrust is powerless and will do what they want regardless
