Did any of you hear Jason Price being called a lazy black bastard with sheer regularity?

It's a no from me.

Nothing in the end, hence the pointlessness of polls.

This is one of the most enthralling threads i've ever read! I'm lying here in bed with my cocoa but just can't put it down. Can't wait for the last page to see what happens in the end!

Then you are wholly oblivious to your surroundings, I would say him and Michael Howard have been singled out for more abuse from supporters in the last 25 years.

Describing what sort of a player he was is irrelevant.

If you started a new thread about Michael Howard receiving the most abuse in 25 years, that would become relevant for you. In fact, I'd agree with you on that one! If you've seen all the games which you claim to have seen, you too will have criticised Michael Howard.

I did not say Michael Howard has been the most abused, I said Price was. I mentioned Howard as everyone seems to acknowledge the level he received and put him below Price, so its entirely relevant to the thread.

I dont think I ever did abuse Howard, don't believe in it. Not going to improve them is it. If they arent good enough then thats not their fault, i get more frustrated with managers than players clearly not good enough.

I was not taking it seriously, my comment was aimed at tackling the subject at hand just incase others don't see through the light hearted comment. I am sure I dont need to name names as to who doesnt seem to understand the obvious.

40 wil be disappointing, have we had a season long debate that did not include weekly stats? Id like this to be the first.

No I wasn't on the north bank during that time but always in the away end at away games.
It didn't happen on an 'almost' game by game basis with sheer regularity. It didn't.

Then why ask the question?

Howard had far more abuse than Price. None of it was racist, I'll give you that.

Every club has knuckle draggers that follow it.

I believe that racist comments were more commonly made by individuals at football grounds in years gone by; thankfully times and attitudes have generally moved on, although the xenophobia that has been stoked up by certain sections of the media has made it rear it's ugly head again. Football has however taken steps to eject people making such comments from grounds.

Did some of our players get grief from the crowd for being perceived as crap, lazy etc. Etc. - undoubtedly.

Did some of our players get grief from the crowd because of the colour of their skin - quite possibly from the odd knuckle dragger but I did not hear racist chanting.

Racial stereotyping - is no more than one persons theory about why they think certain players attracted abuse. Other people believe that it was more to do with what players did or didn't do on the pitch rather than the colour of their skin.

There is little in the way of fact in this thread; Just people's interpretations of incidents that they remember or don't remember from years ago and which may or may not have happened the way they remember them now.

Personally, I'm quite impressed E20 and the supporting cast have squeezed 18 pages out of a lower league journeyman who played for us the best part of 20 years ago.

I am not so sure now.

Summary...

No, doesn't appear so although apparently 5 or maybe was it 15 (the NorthBank15 ) people heard someone shout some racist abuse on the north bank amongst all the noise going on at that time, 18-20 odd years ago. Although these apparent accounts were not documented at the time and sources have not been vetted nor characters of those tested (no disrespect to those people intended at all) the 'evidence' is so unreliable the crusader and purveyor of justice Hanson20ODD wants to prove...er, mmmbop, That it actually happened because he heard it, apparently. Quite why he's taken this on I don't personally don't know, neither what the motivation is. As the other 5 or 15 have also said they heard it, this information being 2nd hand in terms of the POV and thus hearsay is being used as the single and most (only) important and compelling piece of 'evidence' in the 'case' that apparently its ,cut and dried'. Oh, it's not a case it's primary account of research in terms historical relevance....or something like that.

According to some on here, maybe friends of Jason, it seems he was unaware and doesn't think so along with many more than 5 or 15 that didn't hear it but don't let that put anyone off. Although the charge is the abuse happened it matters not that Jason didn't hear it. However, it matters massively that there is no other evidence of any note other than what has been mentioned above to support that allegations of the planet swans 1 and the NB15. Shakys point about evidence or lack of, he could have added it cuts both ways, on both sides. So is it time to move on and shut this thread down or plough on? Perhaps a poll as some else suggested? Or we can all think ...

'I wonder how much more mileage is in this thread. Help out a fellow poster, ECB needs as much as he can get to write his book. Go on 20odd.'

Nobody has said there was racist chanting (there was but I never said that) chanting was aimed at others such as Sam Hammam. I have always maintained that the racist abuse was single voices shouting various things.

Racial stereotyping is simply assuming a player/person of a certain race acts a certain way due to his/her race. That simple.

There is very much in the way of fact. We have 5 or 6 witness statements including one person who used to regularly go to games with one said racial abuser, he said he coukd even name him. Now unless you think he and the others are lying then that is excellent proof that can be accepted in a the court of law/ historians research - depending on which one confuses you the least.

According the the weight of evidence it appears so yes. Although constant abuse - some of which was racist is what was said originally.
