Read it again We were told by Clement that Clucas is a utility player who can play at full back Ergo - Clucas, FF, Mawson, Ollson = 4

Yes but Mr Clement wont do that. It'll be 3 at the back away from home. It's the home formation he needs to tweak as you suggest, with perhaps slightly different players.

Over complicating football on 09:28 - Sep 24 with 2987 views | magicdaps10 | After a night too take stock, I have a few things I have come to a solution about. 5mins in and formation is not working, no need to make subs as formation is not working. Clement should have changed it to FAB NAUGHTON VDH FEDE OLSSON MAWSON AYEW FER CARROLL CLUCAS BONY Also, why is the continental way and passing your way out of trouble seemed the correct way!? Mesa was in a cul de sac, instead of playing the continental pass....just boot it in to row z and then get the shape back for the throwing. Managers, coaches and players are over complicating a simple sport.

I agree. It may not be what I'd choose but I can live with it away from home to grind out points. I can also put up with getting a goal at home then defending and looking to hit on the break. But setting up like we did, from kick off, at home against a team not considered one of the big teams....Mr Clement deserves a kick right in the bollocks for this.

You want to play Clucas at right back?? He's far enough out of his natural position as it is. Assuming they play Andy Carroll, you can man mark him with VdH, but the best way to stop him is to stop the crosses coming in. No way is Clucas going to do that. Fab Mawson VdH Fernandez Naughton Olsson Mesa Fer Carroll Ayew Tammy Bony You could quite easily bring Sanches in for Fer or Ayew (Fer at the tip if he replaces Ayew) or Clucas for Carroll. Unfortunately, I wouldn't be at all surprised to see us set up similarly to yesterday with the Mesa on the bench. I think he will start Tammy though. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Magnificent point. I thought it looked good Edit - I'd leave Bony on the bench. Start him at home to Huddersfield with a flat back four. [Post edited 24 Sep 2017 9:47]
