Dreadful.

BBC not too keen in reporting it though.

Spain has just lost the right to govern.

The powers and a bunch of Republicans.....was never going to be peaceful!!

In all honestly, what do the catalonians believe they will achieve or gain if they go Solo?
I am all for people wanting their independence but I for one would not ever support Wales going solo.....Catalonian people are making a silly choice, we have seen it so many times down the years.

Before any dumb wit comments, it is a total opposite to brexit.....chalk and cheese.

Catalans clearly cover the poor areas of Spain and feel Madrid is ripping them off.

Catalonia suffered under Franco big time and scars clearly still there.

Civil war is not what Spain needs

This would be like Cardiff holding a referendum for Welsh independence without being sanctioned by Westminster from where we are ruled.

If you want to change rules that badly then Arms seems inevitable .

It's a nasty situation .

Apart from all the massive articles on their website and mentioning it on every news bulletin for the last week and a half the BBC are completely ignoring this.

The creatures outside looked from pig to man, and from man to pig, and from pig to man again; but already it was impossible to say which was which.

It's a stupid situation on every side. The way this referendum has been organised is utterly shambolic and completely one sided. Any Catalonian who would vote against independence (they are in a large majority if polls are correct) has to fight their way through walls of angry protestors to vote. Voters can print out their own ballot papers and go to any polling station, there's very little checks so voters can presumably vote numerous times. The police and Spanish authorities seem to be ridiculously heavy handed which isn't helping their cause either.

But on the plus side Kilkennyjack will be delighted that Catalonia will be remaining in the EU now.

I'm looking a the bigger picture Andrew.

There has always been contempt for Madrid post Franco .

This could lead to break up of Spain.

It's serious situation but frankly to have Guardia acting like this on Government s orders is shockingly stupid

Kilkenny made the same claim about the BBC and Catalonia a week ago, to repeat it again is somewhat baffling

I do try to make allowances for you, but its true that you cant educate pork.

So ....peaceful civilians seeking to vote are phyically hit by riot police with batons.
Will you join the civilised adult world in condemning it ?
And thats the only point here.

Well i guess the fact its been going on for a month or more, and the beep picks it up last night probably makes my point.

If this was Russia or an Arab nation acting like Spain, then the BBC would rightly have been all over it. Human rights abuse etc etc

Spain’s approach to this is that of a bully. Its really that simple.
