Outsider? Nobody? Irrelevant?

Why get all uppity and abusive? Why bring your ex chum Darran into it? Again? Why can't you debate without getting all arsey with me.

I'm not sure what I've done to offend you. Have a think about that.

I would have thought that the more outsiders, nobody’s and irrelevants that visit Swansea the better it is for Swansea?

I heard they're taking it down bit by bit, then going to re-erect it in Cardiff Bay, but they're going to extend it so it's bigger than it's ever been. They welcome visitors there...

The lifeboat station is amazing, have you actually visited it? There's no chance the pier will be let go following the investment in that.

I'd be interested in what the OP thinks about the fantastic improvements at the Pier. The shops, restaurant and gallery, for example.

Slightly off topic but have you seen the episode of Grand Designs where a wealthy Irish businessman bought the old lifeboat station in Tenby and built himself state of the art new home? Really is worth a watch ....

You might think I've forgotten, but one day, when you least expect it, my time will come.

I don't 100% know so don't take that as read, back to the subject of the Pier something need to be put in place to enable its restoration doubt the Council has the funds though, maybe Ameco themselves could get an investor in with the sole intention or restoring it, the Bolloms still own it [the first link says it] they're using the Pier to promote their other facilities so they should make the Pier restoration a priority IMO.

I was talking to one of the guys who work there. May have been one of the lifeboat men. He said the main problem is the decking . The actual metalwork below is not as bad.
They have contingency plans to run a metal bridge similar to the section just before the station itself. This will span the whole pier and will be purely for them to access the station. No public access and just a metal bridge on top of existing metalwork.
Don't rule anything out......
Whoever gave permission for the new boathouse to be built without ensuring the access would be built should be hung by their whatsits.

A prime spot at the end of the bay left to rack and ruin doesn’t make sense to me at least, that said there are lots of Piers around the Country left to the elements to rot them away.

I was down there today (and the Pilot ;-)).
Talking to one of the lifeboat men and he said the pier is closing for repairs / redevelopment. It should have closed in September but it has been out back month on month and now they say the closure date is in November.
He also insisted Bolloms still own it having bought it off the council for a quid. This is at odds with my email from Whiterock Wales which said a company called AMECO Ltd owned it. He had a vague recollection of Whiterock (maybe our stadium name ;-)) but never heard of AMECO.
I wonder who actually owns the pier......and will any redevelopment get off the ground.
