Official Swans Website Not in Welsh 14:57 - Oct 16 with 11511 viewswestwalesed

I know there are some on here who don't see the value in the Welsh language, but the official website can be translated into Mandarin, but not Welsh, which is an official language of the United Kingdom and needless to say spoken by many, many, people as a first language particularly in west Wales. I think this is an utter disgrace.

I e-mailed the Digital Media Manager over the weekend, and this was the reply I have received today:

"Hi Edward

Many thanks for your email.

We have a Mandarin button on the site purely for our sponsor LeTou. We are currently translating the swansdirect.com store into Welsh as well as Spanish but with the main website we are unlikely to translate this into any other language. As when I have analysed traffic and usage it really doesn’t warrant any other translations.

Thanks again for your email

Beccy Symmons"

Surely this can't be right??????

How can they read it in Welsh when it isn't in Welsh?

Already fired off a curt e-mail in response and various other people. This is actually a disgrace. We are in Wales for Gods sake!

On the website the Merrycans intend to put a button to do a "speak for the blind."

Going to be in a deep redneck accent with banjos playing, the wife will leave and take the dog with her.
You lose your house and end up drinking turps in the Jacks Zone at £5 a tin

Edit.
For those of you who speak Pashto, you'll be glad to know that according to Beccy, there was no traffic requirement in that language, so you don't get a button either

No point doing it in Welsh. I'm trying to think if there's anyone I know from Swansea who speaks it.

Perhaps a translation into "Penlan" would be a better option?

I thought the sponsors paid for the Mandarin translation, sure i read that somewhere.

It should definitely have a Welsh version though. But not the directions to the stadium bit, that could cause many accidents.

I want a mate like Flashberryjacks, who wears a Barnsley jersey with "Swans are my second team" on the back.

Of course they should.
Inexpensive on the web these days, its a no brainer.

The club could maybe ask Joe Allen and Ben Davies to do it for them, which sort if makes the whole point.

At least we now know how to pronounce Angel Rangel as said by the great man himself. I think he's mistaken though.

Pointed that out to the Mrs just the other day actually. I guess it makes sense if the sponsors did it for free but who the f*ck is going to actually read the website in Mandarin. Far more likely for the Welsh button to be used, I'm sure there's an intern at the club or something that could translate the website into Welsh.

Upthecity!

Yes - like millions on an Academy that has failed to produce a player since Ben Davies ?

Or even dividends for our shareholders ?

Or maybe signing Spanish players every season who cant get in our first team ?

All far more important.
