MUMBLES MILE 22:17 - Oct 16 with 9034 viewstheloneranger

After reading the thread about Mumbles Pier, it made me think about the Mumbles Mile.

How many can remember the Original Mumbles Mile??

Starting at the White Rose, and finishing at the Pier. Name the original pub/club names, plus the names of the 3 bars at Mumbles Pier

Everyday above ground ... Is a good day! 😎

What year would you say was the original; mumbles mile?

This is Patches O'Houlihan saying "Take care of your balls, and they'll take care of you."

Before they started messing about with the pub names. Late 60's going into the 70's?
Somebody might correct me and say the pub names didn't start to change until the early 80"s???

No, just the main road, and pubs/clubs set back off that main road, and ending at the bars on the pier

After the OysterCatcher we would also go to the Park or the Vic before back down to what became Vincents , then the Hancock. You had St Annes and the Rugby club on to the Antelope. Never on this planet would I go in the Con club, then the Mermaid. Can't remember the name of the next place. The George, the pilot and on to oblivion :)

I'm more 90's when I first started going down there. Played pool for the Prince of Wales in the 90's & also the Legion Darts team around the same time.

Seem to recall a few characters in there, Billy The Tiv(?) was one. Don't think he's with us anymore though.

Still following Dr's orders!

Here's the wonderful Mumbles Mile, gone but not forgotten

White Rose, Oystercatcher, Marine, Waterloo, Oystermouth Social Club, Mumbles Rugby Club, Antelope, Prince of Wales, Mermaid Hotel, George, Pilot and then the Toby, Salty and Collectors Bars at the Pier.

If you were a member or a well in local then you could also drink at the Conservative Club, Mumbles Yacht Club and Mumbles Rowing Club..

Where have all our wonderful P1ss Ups gone??

Depending on how old you are, who you went drinking with, some would say the mile began at the West Cross Inn. Probably more than a mile then!!

I believe there were pubs called the Rhondda Hotel, the Talbot, the Railway and the Currant Tree.

I think the Currant Tree was on or near the site of the West Cross Inn.

I'd forgotten about that one. Some local told me that Adam Ant got his name from the toilet in there (Adamant). Urban myth b0llocks.

The Hancock (Waterloo) is now Kinsalle Irish Bar. Is it any better (though always had a welcome in there)
