This year's street market runs from 17 November to 21st December.
Why not up to Christmas eve.
Personally the wife and myself make a big thing of Christmas Eve by having a meal then collecting our order of turkey/ meats veg etc from the market.

Christmas Eve is on a Sunday this year isn't it? Not sure if all the other shops will be open, but town is normally rammed on Christmas Eve so seems a bit silly not to leave the market open, even if it was up to the 23rd?
And I doubt this choice has been made by the individual traders. (who probably make most of their money this time of year)
