Vice Presidents 13:54 - Nov 22 with 4446 viewstrebanos_jack

Not sure if this is widely known, but there are plans (announced recently by our American owners via their representative) to disband the Vice Presidents Club and it's 100 or so members and relocate them somewhere else in the stadium.
They (members) have been given a choice as to whether they will accept a 65% price increase on their season ticket and commit to a 3 year "deal" or relinquish their seat so that those seats and the Lounge they currently occupy can be used by "Corporate Customers" and their guests.
That may not mean much to most of the fanbase, but when you consider that people like Mel Nurse and Ivor Allchurch's wife for example, and people who have supported the Swans for the best part of 70 years through thick and thin (mostly thin) - are effectively being told they are no longer welcome - do people not agree that this is something that should be challenged.

I read a post yesterday about recent developments within the Football Club, and how things aren't being investigated and reported in the local press, and the inference was that the press were being paid off to put a positive spin on things.

If there was any doubt as to the intentions of our new owners, then this latest story confirms that.

What puzzles me is where do they think the extra Corporate customer base is going to come from, to watch a product which is in decline.

Mel Nurse pays for a season ticket? If that is true, that's beyond belief.

As long as Ive known him, he's bought two tIckets each season.

At the Vetch, I've seen him standing in the queue for a cup game ticket. He is his own man...that's for sure.

Absolutely nothing as usual.

Suggest you get your facts straight before posting in future.

Could you let me know exactly what the facts are then please?

I've now seen another posting giving almost exactly the same numbers but the only difference is that they pay £800 per annum for the ticket, programme, nice seats in the West Stand (not in front no Director's Box, but between towards the south of the West Stand) and a buffet, not a 4 course meal.

Either way, surely a bit of compromise could be found here - such a huge hike seems unfair and moving them completely seem like overkill, but that's what I suppose we get when corporate Americans take over the club. The main thing is the $$$$$$ rather than looking after the oldest of fans.

I already have it was outlined in my previous post.
Getting back to the point -many of the Vice Presidents have been the back bone of this club throughout their long years and should be shown respect. This is another sad example of how detached the club have become from the true fans.

All the money the VIPs have made for this club over all the years I've been a fan is irrelevant to theses Johnny come lately.
The VIPs are some of our most loyal fans, but they are just..mere fans to the owners.

The whole set up stinks.

We're all just customers these days.

Guys,

I'm not sure if it was my facts that you were alluding to as being inaccurate - I should have said I am not one of the VPs, it is just a situation I have been made aware of , and I felt injustice was in the air.
Regardless of what is on the menu, where they sit and whether or not they pay a premium for it - the fact remains that most of this group of people have a long association with the Club, and are being treated appallingly.
Even the most "Optimistic Jack" would struggle to convince me that there is likely to be much more demand for Corporate hospitality given the current state of affairs on the pitch, and in the scheme of things would an extra 75-100 covers per matchday make that much difference.
I don't profess to have all the facts, but my point was that someone with open access to the facts or regular communications with the Owners, should be able to investigate this further, and at least ask some searching questions.

This change must have been discussed with HJ.
I know what these VPs have done and achieved for this club, so HJ knows it too.

The saving of this club from being in recievership in the mid 80s, with help from the Supporters club, FOSFA, and the people of Swansea, could not have been achieved without the input of the VPs.

If he has rubber stamped this absolute disgraceful decision, he needs to hang his head in shame.

Yes it’s £840, usually a buffet, and a seat in West Stand, South.
Pearlman was asked during the presentation whether an alternative room could be used on match days to keep the VP’s from disbanding, but he said there was none available. What a surprise then that another room has been found for the players wives and kids, as they also have to move out because their existing room is adjacent to the VP’s and they’re knocking the two rooms into one to make the new corporate lounge.
The consensus was that by Pearlman’s attitude to the questions being asked, that he was completely disinterested in the VP’s or what happened to them, and was only interested in the presentation of his latest idea to make more money for the owners.
If the offer wasn’t taken up, your seat would be forfeited. He did say that alternative seats would be found, but not together and they could be randomly anywhere in the stadium, depending on what becomes available from people not renewing their season tickets next season.

Absolutely Lor. Jenkins and his mates have all forgotten themselves and lost total connection with the true fans.
As my father used to say to me - " Don't forget those you meet on the way up, because you may well meet them again on the way down"

Jenkins and Co have lost any interest on heritage or our core support. Yet again the club forgets it's own mantra of `more than just a football club'.

Another great opportunity for the Trust to show its teeth publicly here.

At least you'll have a choice of almost anywhere you please.

Sorry, not funny I know. Simply outrageous.

You know what, I think I've just about had it with all this stuff. I'm starting to want this alien 'us' to crash and burn, just to see people like Thumper Pearljob f*ck off forever. It's like a transplant. My body is rejecting the foreign organs.

There needs to be some good news soon. A win tomorrow would be a start.

They're going to set up a sub committee to see if it is feasible to organise a vote on should they escalate this or not.
Maybe even consider a "finger wagging" at the Yankees

My money is on them heavily recommending not to escalate until they can adjust the 12 rule to encompass any other business

If you wake up breathing, thats a good start to your day and you'll make many thousands of people envious.

If Nurse is able to have one then someone like Phil Sumbler who has done 1000 times more Swansea work than him shoild have one too.

We all respect Sir Phil, 100 per cent.

Back in the day, Mel risked £100,000 of his own money to buy the clubs £800,000 debt to Silver Shield (?) and then called the debt in on Petty - forcing him out.

He wanted to save the club, but not run it. And he did.

A free season ticket now the club spends millions... ?
A no brainer for me.
