Another Indian Talk Talk Hoax call 09:10 - Nov 25 with 1583 viewsBrynCartwright

Was just called at 08:05 am by another sheister fake Talk Talk Indian call centre explaining I have major problems with my Talk Talk service, errors, etc. I said it was quite early but she was quite persistent.

8:05 on a Saturday morning ffs!

Normally hang up straight away with these scam calls but decided to play along with her for 5 minutes. After explaining I had a Mac, she still asked me to find the Windows button. After being transferred to her supervisor he asked me to type in the usual Team Viewer http address. After asking him why he wanted to take over my laptop he said he wanted to fix the 'problems'. He hang up after I said I have absolutely no problems.Didn't even say Goodbye the rude man.

After several years of this pain in the arse scamming bullshit, is there anything the Foreign Office can do? How many elderly or IT illiterate people do these con merchants still actually squeeze money out of?

Seen many entertaining videos on You Tube where IT managers absolutely rip the piss out of these idiots. On a wider basis I recommend the "Hoax Hotel" channel on You Tube where a guy specialises in stringing along various hoaxers seeking money via Moneygram or Western Union.

It's a pain in the arse for sure. Not sure what we can do about scammers from India. I get calls about 5 times a day from colder callers looking to rip me off with life insurance or some such. Those calls come from Swansea, Liverpool, Dunfermline and Doncaster. If the government can't do anything about that, then I doubt they can do anything about some lads in India.

Upthecity!

Buy a call block phone from BT.
£60 for two handsets and an answering machine.
Put in all your friends, relatives, works numbers etc, then they get straight through.
Any other callers have to announce themselves then you can decide whether to accept or decline
needless to say quite a few callers each from abroad don't bother to announce themselves.
Brilliantly simple idea - saves so much grief

If I can be arsed to talk to these scumbags I ask them are you a criminal or possibly a terrorist or a combination of both?
You want to to take control of my computer for a purpose so what is it for criminal or terrorist?
The conversation deteriorates from this point as they get very upset at being called out!
Pity we couldn't take over Big Nose's computer!

Well scammers is this country can be brought to book but I don't think there is the will within the Tory Government. They have bigger fish to fry like hanging on to power. In my opinion though there is no doubt they create such scamming opportunities to help their mates in the Private Sector.
Like all things there are good and bad in all Sectors but some of it is going too far and getting out of hand.
I too share concerns for the elderly and those not up to it IT wise.
When I get a chance I will put a thread up about dealing with Parking Eye in the Seabank Hotel in Porthcawl. The whole legal set up is there to support such Parking Cowboys allowing what amounts to daylight robbery.
If the government can't sort these out then I cannot see the scammers being high on the list. Particularly as most Trading Standards Depts have also been decimated by Government cuts.

Loads offering different range of services.
For example if you don't want calls from unidentified numbers or unknown numbers, they can easily be blocked.

If it’s the same numbers and you possess an iPhone then you can block them using a native iOS feature.
